SCOPEThis specification defines the requirements for interior plastic parts withelectro statically sprayed flocking. The flock is retained by means of anon-staining adhesive.2. APPLICATIONThis s pecificat
3、ion was released originally to define the performancerequirements for sunroof louvers (sunblind).3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStanda rd Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedth erein is required for material/s
4、ource approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/p
5、arts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material lab oratory. All samples shall produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard
6、when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSThe part shall be conditioned for a minimum of 2 4 h at 23 +/- 2 C and50 +/- 5 % relative hum idity prior to test and tested under the sameconditions unless otherwise specified.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONWSK-M98P8-A1/A2/
7、A3WP 3948-b Page 2 of 7 3.4 APPEARANCE(FLTM BI 109-01)Colour, gloss and surface shall match the master sample approved bythe affected Product Development Materials Activity.3.5 BASE MATERIAL REQUIREMENTSThe chemical and physical nature of the adhesive and flock propertieson parts as supplied or part
8、s during normal use may cause skin or eyeirritat ion, allergic reactions or give rise to other toxic healthhazards.3.5.1 Supporting MaterialAs specified on Engineering Drawing3.5.2 FlockPolyamide 6: 6,7 dtexNominal fiber length: 1.5 mm or as specified on EngineeringDrawing3.5.3 AdhesiveShall be a su
9、itable non-staining type adhesive. It shall notbecome soft, tacky or brittle after any of the t ests outlinedin this specification.3.6 LOOSE FLOCK, max 0.8 g/m2(FLTM BN 108-08, Procedure A)All flocked parts shall be thoroughly cleaned to control the amountof loose flock to the above maximum level.3.
10、7 ADHESIONAdhes ion shall be tested on the original part and after Heat Agingaccording to para 3.8 and Environmental Cycling according to para 3.9after conditioning for 1 h at 23 +/- 2 C.3.7.1 Adhesive to substrateAny indication of chipping or brittleness of the flockedadhesive film shall be cause f
11、or rejection.Test Method: Using a scalpel or other sharp implement, cut2 strips, 50 mm long and 2 mm apart through theflock/ adhesive layer to create samples. Lift theflock/ad hesive layer away from the substrate at one end ofeach strip so that it can be easily grabbed. Then peel theflock/ad hesive
12、strip away from the substrate by hand. 13、sha ll not adversely affect the physical properties of thesubstrate material.3.7.1.1 Hot Adhesion (A2 & A3 only)Test Method: Test at the specified conditioningtemperature (para 3.7 ) within 5 s after opening ofoven door.3.7.2 Flock to AdhesiveThe quantity of fibers torn off must not be greater than
14、themaste r sample approved by the affected Product DevelopmentMaterials Activity.Te st Method: Apply a contrasting colored transparent tape(see para 5.1) approximately 25 mm wide onto a flockedsurface using firm pressure. Remove the tape by pulling backrapidly at 90 degrees to the surface.3.8 HEAT A
15、GINGThe fi nished part shall show no visible evidence of warpage,deformation, cracks, delamination or other failu res to an extent thatwoul d affect its use in the ultimate assembly. There shall be nolocal shrinkage where the part has been gated which would interferewith assembly to related parts, o
16、r affect its appearance.The fin ished part shall show no change in appearance when comparedwith the original part.The adhe sion of the individual surface coating shall meet therequirements of para 3.7.Test Methods: One of the following test methods shall be chosenaccording to the application and sho
17、wn on the Engineering Drawing.3.8.1 WSK-M98P8-A1Mount the finished part according to vehicle installation ona suit able fixture and place it in car position in amechanical convection oven maintained at 80 +/- 2 C for 7days. Evaluate after conditioning to 23 +/- 2 C.3.8.2 WSK-M98P8-A2Same as para 3.8

34、plier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions impos
35、ed by law, regulations or Ford isap plicable to the materials addressed by this document. Therestrictions are defined in Engineering Material SpecificationWSS-M99P9999-A1, unless a different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) isspecified on the engineering document for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSM
36、at erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffect ed Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the su
37、pplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecimen s for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material
38、Approved Source List. 5. GENERAL INFORMATIONIf any of above tests cannot be carried out on the finished part due todimen sion, design etc. a respective note shall be made in the InitialSampl e Report and submitted for approvals to the Materials DevelopmentLaboratory, Product Engineering.5.1 TRANSPARENT TAPEUse 3M Transparent Tape #7740 for para 3.5.2.
