2、EXTERIOR 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a pigmented, low-gloss, two component urethane suitable for first surface application to various rigid substrates. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for highly durable exterior accent coating on exterior trim com
3、ponents. It is a monocoat application that does not employ a clearcoat topcoat. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements for production materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 COMPOSITION 3.2.1
4、 Resin Coating shall be thermosetting synthetic resin fortified to meet the durability requirements. 3.2.2 Pigments Pigments are exterior quality automotive grade selected to meet durability requirements. 3.2.3 Solvents The volatility of the solvent will be such that there shall be no paint sagging,
5、 roughness or dry spray at the specified film thickness. Over the application viscosit
6、y range, material shall be in compliance with local emission regulations 3.3.1 Non-Volatile Content, range See initial sample +/- 4% (ASTM D 1353) 3.3.2 Volatile Organic Content, range See initial sample +/- 1% (ASTM D 3960) 3.3.3 Weight per Volume, range See initial sample +/- 0.1 lbs/gal (ASTM D 1
7、475) 3.3.4 Volume Solids, range See initial sample +/- 2% (ASTM D 2697) 3.3.5 Viscosity, min (ASTM D 1200) Supplier shall report value at application reduction. 3.3.6 Stability (FLTM BI 102-03) The uncatalyzed material shall not liver or jell upon standing and must be free from settling which is not
8、 dispersed by normal agitation. The viscosity of the material shall not increase more that 10 seconds. Uncatalyzed material shall be stable for at least one year. 3.4 SYSTEM COMPONENTS 3.4.1 Substrate Rigid polymers and rigid polymer blends, SMC, ABS, etc. with a flex modulus typically greater that
9、1250 MPa, as required on Engineering Drawing. 3.4.2 Surface Condition The surface to be coated must be cleaned by an automated process to ensure absence of oil or alkaline residue, fingerprints, mold release agents, dirt, moisture and other foreign materials. 10、16J19-A Page 3 of 8 Copyright 2003, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. 3.4.3 Topcoat Apply topcoat to the required dry film thickness by spray under conditions appropriate for topcoats and flash as required. 3.4.4 Drying Material must be dried at 82 +/- 2 C oven temperature for 30 minutes. 3.4.5 Aging A
11、ll panels shall be aged 2 weeks minimum at 23 +/- 2 C before testing. 3.5 APPEARANCE 3.5.1 Color (FLTM BI 109-01 Visual Assessment) (SAE J 1545, Three-Angle CMC) Shall match the Master Approve Sample color panel. 3.5.2 Gloss (FLTM BI 110-01) As released by Engineering: E: 60 Glossmeter 50 +/- 3 F: 6
12、0 Glossmeter 35 +/- 3 G: 60 Glossmeter 20 +/- 3 H: 60 Glossmeter 10 +/- 3 3.5.3 General The material, when properly applied, shall dry to a smooth homogeneous film, free from mottling, pitting or excessive orange peel. 3.6 FILM PROPERTIES 3.6.1 Film Thickness, min 30.5 m (ASTM B 487) Coating film th
13、ickness must be sufficient to meet all requirements of this specification. Properly cured finish shall be hard enough to dry sand easily with 360 grit paper without gumminess or severe scratching. 3.6.3 Dry Hiding Paint shall provide complete opacity at 25.4 m maximum. 3.6.4 Ultraviolet Light Transmittance The maximum light transmission through the monocoat appli
15、ed at 80% of dry hiding shall be no more than 0.1% at 360 nm and 5% at 400 nm. The equipment used for this measurement is a Lambda 6 Intergrate Sphere spectrophotometer or equivalent. 3.6.5 Adhesion 3.6.5.1 Paint Adhesion No chipping, or loss (FLTM BI 106-01, Method C) of adhesion permitted 3.6.5.2

26、ncurred special reasons, no Florida results are available. Under such circumstances, comparative testing only is allowed against materials of known Florida stability with identical chemical type of resin. In case of differences in the test results of Florida exposure and accelerated weathering, the
27、results of the Florida exposure shall prevail. The panels shall be completely free from evidence of cracking, checking, rusting, blistering, d peeling or micro-checking. Only the slightest visual color change and minimal gloss loss is permitted. The film shall be free from mildew and show a minimum
28、of dirt retention. Wash panels from exposure per FLTM BI 160-01, B, 1. Clean exposure panels will be placed in a deionized water bath for 16 h per FLTM BI 104-01. After panels are removed from the water bath and thoroughly blown dry, an “X“, to be located at the center of the panel and 50 mm from th
29、e bottom, is scribed. The “X“ shall be 30 mm in height and 20 mm wide. Tape the “X“ with 3M 898-2 tape and check for peeling and delamination between any layers. There shall be no blistering or delamination of any of the coating layers. 3.8.1 Natural Weathering Florida Exposure (SAE J1976, Procedure
