SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications cover round electric resistance welded steel tubing, produced in straight lengths from uncoated low carbon and HSLA hot rolled steels, to be used in bending and hydroforming operations. This material shall exhibit properties

3、 related to strength, formability, weldability, and paintability. 2. APPLICATION These materials are used primarily for hydroformed automotive structural components. (e.g. cross-members, frame parts, etc.) 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification o

4、f materials. 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 DIMENSIONS AND DIMENSIONAL TOLERANCES 3.2.1 Thickness and Thickness Tolerances (ASTM A568) The wall

5、thickness tolerances shall conform to three-quarter (0.75) tolerances, unless otherwise stated in the Engineering Drawing. 3.2.2 Length The standard tube length tolerance shall be specified as nominal +/- 2.05 mm for tubes cut to length in the range 914-3657 mm. Length tolerances for tubes outside t

6、his range shall be negotiated between the appropriate stamping engineering body and the tube supplier and shall be included in the Engineering Drawing. The Outside Diameter Tolerance (+/-) specifie

10、d above is for individual measurements taken, not averages. 3.2.4 Mean Outside Diameter Requirements for the Mean Outside Diameter (ref para 4.3) shall be stated in the Engineering Drawing. 3.2.5 Ovality Requirements for ovality (ref para 4.3) shall be stated in the Engineering Drawing. 3.3 WELD INT

11、EGRITY 3.3.1 Non Destructive Testing (ASTM A513 S8) 100% on-line inspection of the weld area shall be conducted. 12、with the following exceptions: ASTM A513 S6.3 Flaring test - 20% minimum expansion ASTM A513 S6.2 Flattening test - no opening in weld shall take place until the distance between the plates is less than one quarter (25%) of the original outside diameter of the tubing. 3.4 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION (weigh

13、t percent) The upper and lower limits of chemical composition of the controlled elements shall be established by the tube supplier and be included in the Control Plan. 3.5 MECHANICAL PROPERTIES (50 mm Gauge Length) (ISO 6892/ASTM E 8M/EN 10002) All mechanical property requirements, as agreed to by t

14、he appropriate stamping engineering body and the tube supplier, shall be included in the Engineering Drawing. Mechanical properties are to be tested on tubes in the longitudinal direction only. 3.6 PAINTABILITY Flat coil product used to produce tube supplied to these specifications must have prior a

15、pproval for paintabilty by the responsible activity. This approval shall be based on samples prepared to local process and performance requirements. Material supplied to North American Automotive Operations (NAAO) shall meet the following requirements: ESB-M2P130-A is pertinent for material intended

16、 for Class 1 surface applications. ESB-M2P129-B is pertinent for material intended for Class 2 and Class 3 surface applications. Material supplied to European Automotive Operations (EAO) shall meet the requirements of WSK-M2P136-A. 3.7 END CONDITION/FINISH Tube ends must be dent free and pinch free,

17、 no dimpling permissible. No sharp edges allowed at tube ends, height of burrs shall not exceed 0.25 mm. 18、o one of the following conditions: Flash In-Tubing is permitted (i.e. inside weld flash is not removed) Flash controlled to within 0.25 mm maximum, flash cutting shall not reduce tube thickness below the minimum required thickness 3.9 SURFACE REQUIREMENTS Tube surface imperfections shall not exceed

19、2.5% of the wall Thickness. Tubes shall be cleaned and flushed. Tube surfaces shall be free of corrosion or dirt. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 4.1 INITIAL SUPPLIER APPROVAL For initi

20、al approval, the supplier should furnish the following information for each variant: A plan detailing how each requirement of para 3 will be controlled on a continuing basis. Test results from a typical production sample for the requirements outlined in para 3, with the exception that paintability t

21、esting shall be conducted on one flat rolled sample. Mechanical property histograms including mean and standard deviation values. Data shall consist of a minimum of 40 measurements for each property in para 3.5, taken from a minimum of 20 master coils, while the process is operating in statistical c

22、ontrol. 4.2 METHOD OF SPECIFYING The Engineering Drawing shall specify the surface class. 23、e measured along four axes, defined as follows: D1 diameter of axis measured from weld line (0) to 180 from weld line D2 diameter of axis starting at 45 from weld line to 225 from weld line D3 diameter of axis starting at 90 from weld line to 270 from weld line D4 diameter of axis starting at 135 fr

24、om weld line to 315 from weld line The ovality of the tube is defined as the difference between maximum and the minimum of these four measurements. (Ovality=Dmax Dmin) The mean diameter is defined as the average of these four measurements. (D1+D2+D3+D4)/4) 4.4 STRAIGHTNESS The straightness tolerance

25、 is 1mm for every 1000mm of tube, for any given section of the tube. For lengths under 305 mm the straightness tolerance shall be negotiated between the Manufacturing Activity and the Tube Supplier. 4.5 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS The reference documents are: ASTM A 568 EN 10002 ISO 2566/1 ASTM A 513 ESB-M2P129-B ISO 6892 ASTM E 1245 ESB-M2P130-A WSK-M2P136-A ASTM E 8M ES-YC15-1N260-AA WSS-M99P9999-A1
