SCOPE This specification defines performance requirements for racked alloy coatings of zinc/nickel electrolytically deposited on ferrous surfaces from alkaline baths where corrosion protection with post-plating trivalent chromium or he

3、xavalent chromium free conversion treatment is required. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally to define performance requirements for zinc/nickel alloy coatings with iridescent black chromate conversion coatings over fuel rail sensor brackets. Notes: This specification covers sol

4、ely black hexavalent chromium free coatings. 3. REQUIREMENTS All requirements must be met to achieve acceptable field durability. No one requirement, exclusive of others, is capable of ensuring satisfactory performance. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part p

5、roducers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 PLATING 3.2.1 Zn-Ni Plating Alloy Composition Nickel 5 - 10 wt % Zinc Balance Suitable methods for determining the metal content include atomic absorption and x-ray fluorescence. 3.2.2 Plating

6、Alloy Thickness 8 m min (ASTM B659) The plating thickness requirements identified above represent the minimum values and apply to all significant surfaces unless otherwise specified on the engineering drawing. In case of dispute, the thickness measurement umpire method shall be metallographic sectio

7、ning per ASTM B 487. (Plating involves a nickel flash of 1 - 2 m followed by the alloy plate. Plating alloy thickness does not include the nickel flash. Following plating, black chromate is applied, not included in the plating alloy thickness.) 3.2.3 Topcoat Treatment A silicon-free polymer-type hyd

8、rodispersive topcoat or water soluble oil is to be applied by the immersion process to the part after hexavalent chromium free treatment. Coating or oil should be uniform over all significant surfaces unless otherwise specified on the engineering drawings. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSS-M1P8

9、7-A2 Copyright 2013, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 2 of 2 3.3 PLATING ADHESION 3.3.1 Grind-Saw Test No lifting or peeling of the electroplate from (ASTM B571) the substrate 3.3.2 Burnishing Test No blistering, lifting or peeling of the electroplate (ASTM B571) from the substrate 3.3.3 Heating T

10、est Heat part to 200 C for 1 h. Quench in water (20 to 30 C). Dry part. Apply adhesion tape such as 898 by 3M. Remove the tape. Peeling or lifting of electroplate from the substrate is not acceptable. 3.4 ACCELERATED CORROSION RESISTANCE 160 h (white) (ASTM B117/ASTM D610) 500 h (ferrous) The coatin

11、g shall show no evidence of blistering, peeling, or loss of adhesion. No specimen shall exhibit specified white corrosion exceeding 1% per ASTM D610, grade 6. No specimen shall exhibit a ferrous corrosion spot larger than 1.5 mm in diameter. No specimen shall exhibit the specified ferrous corrosion

12、exceeding 0.1% per ASTM D610, grade 8. 3.5 EMBRITTLEMENT Parts plated to this specification shall be free from the detrimental effects of hydrogen embrittlement or other factors which result in part brittleness. All parts shall meet the requirements of WSS-M99A3-A. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION The informa

13、tion given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 14、hose surfaces of the finished part that: . are directly visible and/or visible by reflection when the finished part is assembled in position; . can be the source of corrosion products directly visible by reflection; . can affect fit or function of the part. 5.
