2、 1. SCOPE This specification defines the performance requirements for coating over steel substrates exposed to severe exterior service conditions. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for coated and/or encapsulated wheel balance weights. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS
3、 FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 COATING Shall be a continuous film free or blisters, bubbles, foreign material, and similar imperfections. 3.3 INITIAL HARDNESS Production
4、 parts shall be sufficiently cured at time of packing to withstand normal handling without marring. 3.4 CYCLIC CORROSION RESISTANCE 4 weeks (Laboratory Accelerated Cyclic Corrosion Test CETP 00.00-L-467) At test termination, wheel weight must have an acceptable as-installed appearance based on a jur
5、y evaluation of at least two people, one person from Ford Wheels Engineering, and the other from either Ford Wheels or Materials Engineering. 3.5 PAINT ADHESION 5% max removal (FLTM BI 106-01, Method C) Lightly hand sand paint film surface (10 double rubs, moderate pressure) with P600 paper until du
6、ll, before scribe operation and checking adhesion. 3.6 THERMAL SHOCK TEST 19 Rating (FLTM BI 107-05) 3.7 WATER RESISTANCE 240 h (FLTM BI 104-01) No blistering, no gloss change (FLTM BI 110-01, 25% max), no loss of adhesion, and/or any other coating failure. Adhesion shall be tested within 20 minutes
