SCOPE Th

2、is specification defines the performance requirements for printed graphic coatings printed directly on resins or other surfaces. It includes printed symbols and inks which have been painted over then subsequently laser etched to become visible. This specification is not applicable to continuous surf

3、ace covered coatings. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally to define performance requirements for graphic printings. Typically these graphic printings are applied using pad/tampon or silkscreen printing techniques. The surface on which the printing is applied must also be valida

4、ted using the appropriate Ford Engineering Material Specification. In some cases it will be possible and is recommended to test both the printing and the surrounding surface in the same test, thus fulfilling the test requirements of several specifications (see Table 1). 15、ared with original non-aged sample. After exposure, immerse parts in water for 24 h per FLTM BI 104-01 and then adhesion test per para 3.4.1 within 30 minutes of removal from the water. Part/surface must meet the adhesion requirements of 3.4.1 and show no blistering or softening. The temperature at

16、which the parts were tested must be clearly reported on the PSW or the laboratory report. For printing, the number of hits must be reported and represent the production process. 3.6 PROCESS WINDOW DEFINITION The supplier shall perform a Design of Experiments (Response Surface Analysis is recommended) to determine the process window of the substrate/ink combination. The

33、 variables/parameters to be included in the design should include hardener ratio, flash-off time, bake temperature, bake time, and film thickness. The parameters to be investigated shall be decided by the materials engineer. An initial screening experiment should be run to determine what levels shou

34、ld be tested for the variables/parameters. This screening experiment should be reviewed with the materials engineer to set up the final DOE. Responses for the DOE shall include, but are not limited to, the following: Film Thickness, para 3.2.5 Gloss, para 3.3.2 Initial Adhesion, para 3.4.1 Water Res

Contact for questions concerning Engineering Material Specifications 4.1 Alternate Testing Procedures Table 2 suggests alternate sample types in case the geometric pro

38、perties of the part (size, shape, absence of flat surfaces) prevent normal part testing. Alternate 2 testing requires agreement of Ford Materials Engineering prior to testing, otherwise test results will not be accepted. If the affected (printed) surface area exceeds 100 cm2, please contact Ford Materials Engineer

43、ing. In many cases it will be necessary to test the parts which contain a printed surface against WSS-M99P2222-D1, Fogging or Odor.
