SCOPE The body shop NVH materials

2、defined by these specifications are extruded, hot applied and cured in the electrocoat oven. 2. APPLICATION These materials were originally released for damping of closure outer panels. The materials are hot (60C) applied to oiled sheet metal body parts. The materials are applied on oiled surfaces w

3、ith acceptable oil film weights (European applications limit the oil / pre-lubricant film weight to max 3 g/m, see para. 3.19) Note: Care must be taken to ensure that the local oil film weight in the area of the NVH application does not exceed the critical limit. Monitoring of the film thickness, ad

4、equate storage of the part and / or cleaning of the surface prior to NVH application is necessary to avoid critical film thickness values, which would cause malfunction of the NVH material. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must

5、conform to the Companys Standard Requirements for Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A) Part producers using this material in their products, must use Ford approved materials and must conform to a process control plan which has been approved by STA and/or the relevant Materials Activity. 3.2 SOLIDS

6、99.0% min (FLTM BV 150-10) 3.3 ASH CONTENT +/- 10% from (FLTM BV 150-10) Initial sample 3.4 FLASHPOINT 100 C min (ASTM D 93, Method A) Note: If testing at higher temperatures is not feasible because of gelling of test material, the supplier must certify in writing that each separate volatile ingredi

7、ent has a flash point greater then 100 C. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSS-M4G449-A1 Copyright 2012, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 2 of 5 3.5 VISCOSITY AT 60 C (FLTM BV 103-01, 0.392MN/m line pressure, nozzle diameter 2 mm) Suppliers must submit flow characterization data to Ford Motor Co

8、mpany for flow modeling and process window determination. For a specified temperature range, the requested properties include, but are not limited to, viscosity, yield stress, apparent activation energy for viscosity and apparent activation energy for yield stress. This data constitutes the referenc

9、ed standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. 3.5.1 As Received 15 - 25 seconds 3.5.2 After Aging 20 - 30 seconds (14 days at 35 +/- 2 C) Note: Final approval of a specific viscosity of material for production shipments shall be made by the affected Manufacturing Divis

10、ion. In all cases, however, the viscosity shall be within the limits specified above and the material shall meet all requirements of this specification. 3.6 TEST PANEL PREPARATION Prepare a test panel (300 x 100 x 0.8 mm) according to FLTM BZ 150-11, see para 3.19. Apply a ribbon of NVH rubber mater

11、ial (250 x 30 x 5 mm) to the panel at 60C. Condition for 2 h at 23 +/- 2C. Cure specimens at the min and max curing cycle according to FLTM BV 150-05, for each applicable region. 3.7 PANEL SINK MARKS No visible sink marks on black painted outer closure panel, where the material is applied on the inn

12、er side. The test panel is compared directly after aging to an unaged panel without material. Curing condition acc. 3.6 3.7.1 Cold Aging (7 days at -40 +/- 1 C) The painted panel (500 x 500 x 0.8 mm) is applied with the NVH rubber (200 x 300 x 2.5 mm), approximately 150 mm away from the edges. 3.7.2

13、 Heat Aging (14 days at 90 +/- 2 C) The painted panel (420 x 440 x 0.8 mm) is applied with the NVH rubber (230 x 170 x 2.5 mm), approximately 110 mm away from the edges. 3.8 ADHESION The material at all ranges of coating thickness must not be peeled-off in a coherent film. Test Method 1. Prepare tes

14、t panels per para 3.6.and then apply the NVH rubber to cover 300 x 100 mm so after the min and max curing cycle, according to FLTM BV 150-05 for each region, a dry coating thickness of 0.3 mm beginning at one edge of the test panel and increasing to 3 mm at the other edge is obtained. After 24 h at 23 +/- 2 C make two cuts through the coating along the 300 mm length of the test panel and 30 mm apart and try to peel-off coating starting at the edge with the lowest film thickness. 3.9 WA

16、TER ABSORPTION 1.0% max (FLTM BV 153-07, Method B) 3.10 FLOW RATE 5 mm max (FLTM BV 151-03) Panel (300 x 300 x 0.8 mm) NVH rubber material (300 x 100 x 2.5 mm) Cure test specimens separately at the min and max curing cycle according to paragraph 3.6. 3.11 RESISTANCE TO DRIPPING The material must not

17、 fall off or show evidence of dripping. Panel (300 x 300 x 0.8 mm) NVH rubber material (300 x 100 x 2.5 mm) Place specimens in an inverted position in a mechanical convection oven and subject them to the “Min Curing Cycle“ according to paragraph 3.6. 3.12 HARDNESS DUROMETER “A“ 70 - 90 (ISO 868, 3 s

18、 dwell) Test Method: Preparation according to para 3.6. Use a mechanical convection oven and measure Shore hardness after conditioning at 23 +/- 2 C for 4 h. 3.13 SPRAYABILITY The material shall be a smooth homogeneous mixture, free from foreign material and suitable for use in flattstream equipment

19、. It shall extrude evenly and rapidly with no tip clogging or fluctuations in the extruded pattern and with a min spray-back and fogging. 3.14 QUALITY The material shall be of uniform quality, free from foreign material and properties detrimental to normal production use. 3.15 STORAGE STABILITY 4 mo

20、nths min (From date of manufacture) When stored in sealed unopened containers out of direct sunlight at ambient temperatures between 5 C and 32 C. 3.16 DENSITY kg/m AT 23 C See initial sample (ASTM D 1475) The weight tolerance for any one supplier shall be 0.05 kg/m, based on the recorded weight of

22、ecification WSS-M99P31-A1. 3.18 RESISTANCE AGAINST WASH AND PHOSPHATING SOLUTION No dissolution of material or lifting from panel Test Method: Prepare panels according to para. 3.6., but before curing, wash, phosphate, and electrocoat it is required that the test panels are compatible with productio

23、n processes based on regional production process controls. 3.18.1 Wash Resistance No measurable (FLTM BV 116-01, Method A, 2 mm material thickness,) movement displacement or wash off. 3.18.2 Electrocoat Compatibility Shall not contaminate (FLTM BV 119-01, use current production paint electrocoat pri

24、mer as identified by Material Engineering) bath or cause electrocoat irregularities. 3.19 OIL COMPATIBILITY & REFERENCE OIL All materials released to this specification must be applicable to oiled surfaces, including corrosion protection oil, wash oils, pre-lubricants, draw oils, hot melts etc. The

25、approved products for use in Ford of Europe or the European brands are listed in the applicable approved source list (contact materials engineering for details). The supplier must confirm the compatibility of the NVH rubber material to these specific coating materials in the appropriate lab tests li

26、sted in para 3 and prior to vehicle production- in a line trial in cooperation with Ford manufacturing engineering. The lab test panels must be oiled with maximum permissible oil film thickness (see FLTM BZ 150-11 Oiling of Steel surfaces). Reference oil for NVH rubber material performance compariso

27、n is Fuchs Anticorit RP 4107S. Attention: New compatibility tests are necessary if the oil grade of the affected part is changed! Nominal oil film weight is: 1 1.5 g/m The maximum permissible oil weight for full NVH rubber material performance is: 4 g/m Note: All necessary actions must be taken to p

28、revent any local oil film weight exceeding 3 g/m in the area of NVH application. Critical areas are the lowest positions of parts during transport / storage, e.g. door hem flanges or other oil trapping areas. Unacceptable oil collection will require appropriate storage geometries (critical areas tur

29、ned to top) or in-process cleaning operations prior to NVH application. 30、trial. Functional trial results must be approved by the affected assembly operation and Design Engineering. Results shall be made available to Materials Engineering prior to material approval and release. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION This information given below is provided for clarification and assistanc

All related materials used for approval according to this specification, e.g. electrocoat or metallic substrates shall be noted in the Initial Sample report of the NVH rubber material.
