2、erials defined by this specification are extruded reclaimed rubber sealers and elastic washers of uniform composition. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for materials used to seal around door hinge depressions, die cast studs, and trim molding assemblies. This specification r

3、eplaces ESB-M4G87-A. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to Quality System Requirements, QS-9000. Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. A Control Plan for ongoing production verificati

4、on is required. This plan must be reviewed and approved by the relevant Ford Materials activity and/or Ford Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) prior to production parts submission. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data and assure consistent processing of the mat

5、erials. Part producers using this material in their products, must use Ford approved materials and must conform to a process control plan which has been approved by STA and/or the relevant Materials Activity. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS Ford Motor Company, at its option, m

6、ay conduct infrared and/or thermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra

7、and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONS All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h pr

8、ior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. 9、t 70 +/- 1 C, cool to 23 +/- 2 C and determine needle penetration. 3.5 SOLIDS, min 97 % (ASTM D 2834, except heat at 102 +/- 3 C for 3 h) 3.6 PAINT STAINING (SAE J2020) Shall not produce migration stain when exposed to the following test. Test Method: Prepare a paint panel as described in FLTM BI 10

10、3-02, Method C, using currently released light blue production enamel. Securely attach a specimen of the sealer to the panel, obtaining intimate contact. Place the assembly in the cabinet for 7 d. Examine the panel for evidence of migration staining. 3.7 WATER LEAKAGE, Performance No leaks permitted

11、 Test Method: Mount sealer retainer assemblies with sealer in contact with a 75 x 225 mm painted panel in keeping with normal production installation procedure. After assembly: Subject the specimens to a 24 h static water leak test using a 25 mm heed of water at 23 +/- 2 C. Heat the assemblies for 3

12、0 minutes at 135 +/- 3 C, observe for flow; cool to 23 +/- 2 C. Subject the specimens to another 24 h static water leak test as outlined above. Cool the assemblies to - 29 +/- 1 C and hold them at that temperature a min of 16 h. Allow the samples to warm to 23 +/- 2 C; subject them to another 24 h s

13、tatic water test as outlined above. Note: To facilitate the observance of water leaks, a water soluble dye may be used. The assemblies may also be suspended over a clean white towel to further aid in the detection of water leaks. 3.8 FUNCTIONAL APPROVAL Materials being evaluated for approval to this

14、 specification shall be subjected to a production trial. Functional trial results must be approved by the affected assembly operation and Design Engineering. Results shall be made available to Materials Engineering prior to material approval and release. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSS-M4G87-

15、B WP 3948-b Page 3 of 3 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Ma

16、terials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of

17、 this specification (test results, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on its performance to this specification and on an assessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
