SCOPEThe materials defined by these specifications are the basic componentsfor lead-free, high-throw power, high-edge corrosion resistant cathodicelectrocoat primer.2. APPLICATIONThese specificati ons were released originally for

4、a paint system whenproperly electrodeposited on vehicle bodies, sheet metal components orsmall parts will provide good corrosion resistance, adhesion and enamelappearance properties. These materials together make a paint system thatis lead-free with high-throw power and high-edge corrosion resistanc

5、e.WSS-M64J39-A1: This material is the initial fill material andrepresents the electrocoat bath duringproduction.WSS-M64J39-A2: This material is makeup feed material us ed toreplenish the resins of the initial fillelectrocoat bath.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION WSS-M64J39-A1-A5WP 3948-b Page 2 of

6、 7WSS-M64J39-A3: This material is makeup feed material used toreplenish the pigments of the initial fillelectrocoat bath.WSS-M64J39-A4: This material is makeup feed material used tocorrect poor flow characteristics of the primerwhich may develop when the bath ages. Thisadditive is used only as recom

7、mended by thesupplier following ultrafiltrate purge or whendiscontinuous operation of an electrocoat tankresults in evaporation of bath volatiles.WSS-M64J39-A5: This material is a pre-blended makeup feedmaterial used to replenish the resins andpigments of the initial fill electrocoat bath.The ratio

8、of resin to pigment shall be agreedupon by the supplier, the affected assemblyplant, Global Paint Engineering and ProductionPurchasing prior to delivery of the material tothe assembly plant.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTSMaterial suppliers and part producers must conform to QualitySys

9、tem Requirements, QS-9000. Material specification requirementsare to be used for initial qualification of materials. A ControlPlan for ongoing production verification is required. This planmust be reviewed and approved by the relevant Ford Materialsactivity and/or Ford Supplier Technical Assistance

10、(STA) prior toproduction parts submission. Appropriate statistical tools must beused to analyze process/product data and assure consistentprocessing of the materials.Part producers using this material in their products, must use Fordapproved materials and must conform to a process control plan which

11、has been approved by STA and/or the relevant Materials Activity.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial

12、 approvalshall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on fileat the designated material laboratory. 13、48-b Page 3 of 73.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAll test values indicated herein are based on material conditionedin a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested underthe same conditions unless otherwise specified.3.4 CO

18、 casting or asspecified on Engineering documents.3.6.2 Substrate ConditionClean the surface by an automated process to ensure theabsence of oil or alkaline residues, fingerprints,corrosion, dirt, moisture, and other foreign materials.3.6.3 Coating Material3.6.3.1 Zinc Phosphate (All Panels)Zinc phos

19、phate coating per WSS-M3P1-D for coldrolled steel, pre-coated, electroplated zinc orzinc alloy coated steel and zinc die castings.Aluminum when processed alone should use chromiumoxide coating per WSK-M6P2-B. If steel andaluminum parts are processed concurrently, applyzinc phosphate per WSS-M3P1-D.

20、Do not exceed thealuminum tolerance of the process. Steel andaluminum parts are to meet all requirements ofboth WSS-M3P1-D and this specification.3.6.3.2 Cathodic Electrocoat (Coating System I)Ford Engineering approved current productionmaterials or material under evaluation. Filmthickness requireme

21、nts are based on currentproduction requirements or direction of materialsengineer. Baking requirements are 10 minutes at165, 175 and 200 C metal temperature.3.6.3.3 Electrocoat and Primer Surfacer(Coating System II)Ford Engineering approved current productionmaterials.3.6.3.4 Total Paint System (Coa

25、s, forexample, electrocoats, sealers, and adhesives. The supplier of thismaterial shall keep abreast of changes in technology of relatedmaterials which may affect the compatibility and performance ofthis product. The supplier shall notify the appropriate FordProduct Materials Engineering Office in w

27、ng any change in the properties, composition,construction, color, processing or labeling of the materialoriginally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchanges affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe

28、 affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, applyto the mate

29、rials addressed by this document. The regulations aredefined in Engineering Materials Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMaterials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof their materials

30、 shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representa

31、tive of the test facility,demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of thisspecification (test results, not nominal values), the materialdesignation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on itsperformance to this

32、 specification and on an assessment of suitabilityfor intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the materialwill be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.5. GENERAL INFORMATIONThe information given below is provided for clarification and assistancein meeting the require

33、ments of this specification.The corrosion resistance required in this specification is the basis ofcorrosion protection of vehicle body steel. Test Panels and parts whichmeet this specification will also conform with the corrosionrequirements of WSS-M2P180-A.5.1 Panel Information5.1.1 Standard Steel
