SCOPEThe materials defined by these specifications are solvent-borne primersurfac ers, possessing good gloss, chip and scratch resistance, and enamelholdout.2. APPLICATIONThis specification is re

3、leased for materials used as primer surfacers overbaked electrocoated surfaces. The primer can be cured i n the enamel bakingsys tem at 130 C. It can be painted with solvent borne and water-bornetopcoat systems.WSS-M6J175-ATh e material defined by this specification is for repair parts used toreplac

4、e body parts damaged after the paint process.WSS-M6J175-A2The material defined by this specification is for bodies.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTSMaterial suppliers and part producers must conform to Quality SystemRequirements, QS-9000. Material specification r equirements are to beus

5、ed fo r initial qualification of materials. A Control Plan forong oing production verification is required. This plan must bereviewed and approved b y the relevant Ford Materials activity and/orFor d Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) prior to production partssubmission. Appropriate statistical too

6、ls must be used to analyzepr ocess/product data and assure consistent processing of thematerials.Part producers using this material in their products, must use Fordapproved materials and must conform to a process control plan whichhas been approved by STA and/or the relevant Materials Activity.ENGIN

8、hed for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONSAl

9、l test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relativehumidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under thesame conditions unless otherwise specified.3.4 COMPOSITION3.4.1 ResinsPolyester resins and suitable c

The 3variabl

25、 es to be included in the design are bake time, baketempe rature and film thickness. An initial screening experimentsho uld be run to determine what levels should be tested for thedesign variables. This screening experiment should be reviewed withthe materials engineer to set up the final DOE. Respo

26、nses to the DOEwill be based upon the materials tested and chosen from tests listedwithin this specification.3.11 COMPATIBILITYThe mat erial must be compatible with all related materials, i.e.,electrocoats and topcoats.WSS-M6J175-A2 ONLYAdditionally, the material must be compatible for all low bake

27、wet-on-wet ap plications, i.e., current production sealers, lower bodysideantichips, frontal surface antichips, blackout enamels. 3.12 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSSpecific requirements for material and/or manufa ctured parts shall bespecified on the Engineering drawing, Engineerin g parts specificationan

28、d/or performance specification. 29、 cha racteristics shall bemade by the manufacturing division using the mat erial or painted parton th e basis of a shop trial under production conditions (Form 371Report).3.14 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the materi

30、al upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir

31、ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance re

32、strictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Materials Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials E

33、ngineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed copy of their la

34、boratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.
