2、 by this specification is a voluntary label that is not subject to governmental regulations regarding permanence or removability. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for labels applied to instrument panel substrates to indicate that a rear facing child seat should not be used i

3、n the front seating position of the vehicle due to the presence of a passenger airbag. The label is appropriate for vehicles equipped with a passenger airbag and not equipped with a passenger airbag deactivation (PAD) switch. Peel-and-Stick labels and hot stamp labels comply with the specification.

4、Note: The peel-and-stick labels may be removed intact. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to Quality System Requirements, QS-9000. Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. A Control Plan

5、 for ongoing production verification is required. This plan must be reviewed and approved by the relevant Ford Materials activity and/or Ford Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) prior to production parts submission. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyze process/product data and assur

6、e consistent processing of the materials. Part producers using this material in their products, must use Ford approved materials and must conform to a process control plan which has been approved by STA and/or the relevant Materials Activity. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS Fo

7、rd Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/or thermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification. The IR spectra and thermograms established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All

8、 samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 9、ed in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. For samples subjected to specified conditioning environments other than 23 C and 50 % R.H., tests shall be completed w

10、ithin 4 h after removal from the conditioning environment, unless otherwise noted. All tests shall be performed on labels bonded to the appropriate substrate, unless otherwise noted. 3.4 APPEARANCE The bonded labels shall be free of streaks, blisters, wrinkles, ragged edges and any other surface imp

11、erfections which will make them unsuitable for the intended usage. The design and color shall be specified on the engineering drawing. 3.5 PREPARATION OF TEST SPECIMENS 3.5.1 Substrate Typical substrates include A.B.S (WSB-M4D690-A), poly-carbonate (WSB-M4D627-A), polypropylene (WSB-M4D841-A), PVC c

12、ast skin (WSB-M98D22-B), and PVC laminate (WSB-M98D18-B2). All substrate/label combinations are approved separately. Use all substrates appropriate to the requested approval. 3.5.2 Substrate Preparation To ensure that all test specimens are free of mold release agents, fingerprints, oils, dirt and a

13、ny other detrimental surface contamination, substrates may be wiped with IPA (50 % v/v) prior to label application. 3.5.3 Application Process The application of the labels to all test specimens shall be accomplished in a production representative fashion. The application parameters shall be document

14、ed and submitted as part of the total data package. 15、s of printing or legibility, overall staining, loss of adhesion, curling of edges, blistering, checking, cracking, or any other effect which would detract from its proper function or appearance. Substrate degradation/distortion will be evaluated separately and is not cause for rejection of the label

16、 provided there is no label delamination or loss of legibility. Note: Legibility to be judged at a viewing distance of approximately 450 mm. 3.6.1 Humidity Resistance 7 days at 38 +/- 1 C and 95 - 100 % relative humidity. 3.6.2 Environmental Cycling Resistance 10 cycles, each cycle shall consist of

17、the following: . 4 h at 90 +/- 2 C . 4 h at 38 +/- 1 C and 95 - 100 % R.H. . 16 h at - 40 +/- 1 C 3.6.3 Resistance to Heat Aging, min Rating 4 (7 days at 100 +/- 2 C, AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1) 3.6.4 Heat Resistance (30 minutes at 120 +/- 2 C) Shall withstand a simulated paint repair bake. 3.6.5

29、l practice. 3.11.1.1 Cleanliness All substrates to be covered by the film shall be clean in keeping with good commercial practice. Smoothness (absence of blisters) . Absence of scratches and tool marks 3.12 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Speci

31、fic requirements for material and/or manufactured parts shall be specified on the Engineering drawing, Engineering parts specification and/or performance specification. All critical areas with respect to these properties shall be clearly designated on the engineering drawing. 3.13 FUNCTIONAL APPROVA

32、L Materials being evaluated for approval to this specification shall be subjected to a production trial. Functional trial results must be approved by the affected assembly operation and Design Engineering. Results shall be made available to Materials Engineering prior to material approval and releas

33、e. 3.14 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any change in the properties, composition, construction, color, processing or labeling of the material o

34、riginally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of th

35、e Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Materials Specifica

APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an

37、expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test fa

38、cility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification (test results, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of a material will be based on its performance to this specification and on an assessment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
