SCOPE This standard defines the material requirements of a woven fiberglass textile substrate with aluminum foil laminated to the outer surface, and an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive on the inner surface of the material. 2. APPLICATION This speci
3、fication was released originally for material used to provide thermal protection for wire harnesses. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to b e used for initial qualification of materials. 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the C
4、ompanys Quality System Requirements. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS IR spectra and ther mograms established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and t
5、hermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested un der the same conditions. 3.3 CONDITIONING AND TEST CONDITIONS All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prio

A secon
8、d sample, 1.5 x 4.5 inches, is applied over the first sample. The entire test piece is immersed into one of the automotive fluids until the sample is soaked. After 1 h, 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h, the sample is visually examined for flagging, pe eling or any other sign of degradation. The material passes
9、this test when exposed to any one of the following fluids: gasoline, diesel fuel, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, 10W - 40 motor oil, automatic transmission fluid, engine cleaner, 50 % antifr eeze, or battery acid. 3.10 FOGGING (SAE J1756, 3 h at 100 C heating, 21 C cooling plate, post test co

12、 supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to mak ing any changes to the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ability to meet the specif
13、ication requirements, the Supplier shall notify the affected Purchasing, and Materials Engineering act ivities (with reasons) of the proposed changes. Upon notification of the Company, further instructions will be provided. Note: Suppliers should be prepared to provide test data and samples demonstr
14、ating compliance to this specification, if requested. Substance restrictions imposed by regulations or Company direction applies to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are identified in Restricted Substance Management Standard WSS - M99P9999 - A1. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Mate
15、rials defin ed by this specification for direct supply to the Company must have prior approval. Certain materials subcontracted by part suppliers may also require prior approval. These include materials critical to the Companys business for regulatory, safety, envi ronmental or compatibility require
16、ments or contractual agreements. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from Purchasing, Design or Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall sub mit a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification.
