The face againstwhich the test washer bears shall be smooth, flat within 0.1/100 and square with the axis of the testbolt within a tolerance of 0.1/100. The axis of the test bolt and test washer must be aligned so as toavoid

27、ST WASHER. Test washers shall be made from carbon steel quenched and tempered to asurface hardness of 500 - 600HV and a core hardness of 450 - 490HV and must be unplated. Bothfaces shall be clean and lubricant free. The dimensions shall be as specified in Table 2.The faces shall be flat and parallel
28、within a tolerance zone of 4% of the specified minimumthickness. The surface roughness of the abutment face shall fall within the range N4 - N5 (SeeISO 1302). Test washers must be designed such that when assembled into the test equipment, rotation of the washer is prevented during tightening of the n

Alternatively, multi-hold plates may be used provided that they conform tothe requirements for hardness, hole dimensions and surface condition

The required surface roughness is achieved byrubbing the washer face across an unused piece of 600 “wet or dry“ paper. A single passof about 150 to 200mm using firm but not excessive pressure has prove

Surface grinding will be needed occasionally to preventrounding of the washer face. After re-preparation the surface roughness should be checked prior to testing.
