It is Superceded for all future projects and replaced by GMW3136. 1. PURPOSE The standard spec
、ifies what extent the laminated glass behaves the penetration resistance against the impact of the head-form. 2. SCOPE This standard applies to the safety glass(laminated glass with a high molecular film) for the front glass of automobiles 3. TEST PIECE (SPECIMENS) In the case of windscreen, flat or
、 curved test pieces of about 1100500mm manufactured by the same method as that for a product. 4. APPARATUS AND INSTRUMENTS 4.1. Head-form :The head-form shall be 100.2kg in mass, and shall be so constructed as shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 1 4.2. Supporting fixture for specimen 4.2.1. In the case of the tes
、t piece, the fixture is composed of two steel frames fitting one over the other, and the upper frame is held pressed against the lower frame by at least eight bolts, (see Fig. 2.) The distance between the specimen and floor shall be not less than 300mm. EDS-T-3516HEAD-FORM IMPACT TEST OF SAFETY GLAS

In the case of the windscreen product, the frame shall be bounded with rubber gaskets of about 3mm thick and of hardness 70 IRHD, and the width of gaskets contacting with th

Note) IRHD : International Rubber Hardness Degree 4.3. Dropping Device :The device shall be capable of dropping the head-form freely from a specified hei
、ght. 5. PROCEDURE 5.1. For the specimen of the laminated glass. keep it in a room of 232 for at least 4 hours immediately preceding test. 5.2. Method of supporting specimen 5.2.1. In the case of the test piece place the specimen of which periphery is supported nearly uniformly with interposition of
、the rubber gasket on the supporting fixture placed horizontally, and put the pressing frame with rubber gasket upon it. The specimen shall be placed so that its side which will be the inward face when set on the motor vehicle faces upwards. Fasten the pressing frame and supporting fixture with this
、bolts to prevent the specimen from being dislocated out of the frames at the time of impact of the head-form. 5.2.2. In the case of the product, the specimen shall be placed freely so that its periphery contacts the frame with about 15mm width, and the face of the specimen which represents the inwar
、d face of the product when it is mounted on the vehicle faces upwards. 5.3. Make the head-form as it is at a standstill, without being subjected to any impetus, to drop from a height given in follow, onto the center of the specimen face. Examine the condition of the specimen immediately after the head-form falls down to the face of the specimen. 6. RESULT OF THE TEST 6.1. Where a Complete Product is
、 Used as the Test Specimen : four test specimens shall be tested. If all the specimens satisfy the requirements given in follow, the safety glass shall be acceptable. If the specimens less than or equal to two satisfy the requirements, the glass shall be rejected. If three specimens satisfy, further
、 four specimens shall newly be re-tested, and if all the four specimens satisfy the requirements given in follow, the glass shall be acceptable. Type of glass Condition after impact Laminated glass 1) The specimen breaks, displaying numerous circular cracks centered on the point of impact, the crack
、s nearest to the point of impact being less than or equal to 80mm from it. 2) The glass fragments remain adhering to the interlayer. Detachment of fragments less than 4mm in breadth is permitted outside a circle of 60mm diameter centered on the point of impact. 3) On the impact side the interlayer m
、ust not be laid bare over an area of more than 20cm24) A tear in the interlayer up to a length of 35mm is allowed. 6.2. In the case where a test piece is used as the test specimen : Six test specimens shall be tested. If all the specimens satisfy the requirements given is follows, the safety glass s
、hall be acceptable. If the specimens less than or equal to four satisfy the requirements, the glass shall be rejected. If five specimens satisfy, further six specimens shall newly be re-tested, and if all the six specimens satisfy the requirements given in follows, the glass shall be acceptable. Type of glass Condition after impact Laminated glass Where the specimen breaks, displaying, in principle, numerous circular cracks centered on the point of impact. The manikins head must not pass through. No large fragments of glass shall become detached from the interlayer.
