PURPOSE This standard specifies the method of measuring sintered density of metallic sintered materials (hereinafter referred to as the “specimen“). 2. APPARATUS 2.1. SOXHLET extractor 2.2. Oil impregnat

3、ion device A device capable of reducing the internal pressure of the vessel to 30mmHg. 2.3. Balance The accuracy of the balance shall be 0.01% or less of the mass of specimen to be measured. 2.4. Dryer A device capable of keeping the temperature at 1055. 3. PREPARATION OF MEASUREMENT 3.1. Clean the

4、surface of specimen. 3.2. When the specimen is impregnated with oil, remove oil according to the method specified in “Appendix“. 3.3. In case moisture is contained, remove it by putting specimen in a dryer kept at 1055 for 1 hour. 4. MEASUREMENT One of the following methods shall be used. 4.1. Metho

5、d of using molten paraffin 4.1.1. Weigh the specimen in the atmosphere. 4.1.2. After immersing specimen into the molten paraffin, take it out and wipe off the paraffin adhering to the surface, and then weigh it in the atmosphere. 4.1.3. And weigh the specimen in the water. 4.1.4. The density of the

6、sintered materials shall be calculated as follows. Method of using the oil impregnation device 4.2.

8、1. Weigh the specimen in the atmosphere. 4.2.2. Immerse the specimen into a vessel containing oil, reduce the internal pressure of the vessel to 30mmHg or less in the room temperature, and maintain the condition for 30 minutes, and then restore the internal pressure of the vessel to the normal press

9、ure. Then take out the specimen, wipe off the oil adhering to the surface softly, and weigh it in the atmosphere. 4.2.3. Weigh the specimen in the water. 4.2.4. The density of the sintered materials shall be calculated as follows: A D = - (B - C)/ D : Density of the sintered material(g/cm3) A : Weig

RECORD The value shall be calculated to the

11、third place of decimals, and then rounded off to the second decimal place in accordance with KS A 0021 Method of Rounding - off of Figures. 6. APPENDIX Method of removing oil from the specimen impregnated with oil 6.1. In order to remove oil from the specimen, put it into an appropriate size SOXHLET

12、 extractor (Refer to the following Fig) and keep it there for 3 hours or more to extract the oil using the solvent such as petroleum benzene, petroleum ether or carbon tetrachloride. 6.2. After the extraction, put the specimen into a dryer, heat it at 1055for 30minutes to remove the residual solvent

13、 in the specimen, cool to room temperature, and weight the specimen.
