The purpose of this standard is to determine of the compressibility a cellular elastomeric component like a sealing strip at a defined deflection. 1.2 Applicability.

4、 The compressibility of a cellular elastomer at a given deflection shall be defined as the force required maintaining the deflection following compression at a uniform given velocity. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless otherwise specified. 2.1 External Standa

The machine shall

9、s Reserved November 2011 Page 2 of 4 Version : 5 3.1.2 Test Piece Support. 3.1.2.1 A test piece support shall be produced in the shape of the metal section to which it is attached in service, and the length of it shall be exactly the same with that of the test piece. In order to maintain the test pi

10、ece support in a defined position in relation to the pressure foot, any suitable fastenings can be used. 3.1.2.2 The shape, dimensions, and position, relative to the pressure foot, of the test piece support shall be shown on the relevant part drawing. 3.1.3 Pressure Foot. The shape, dimensions and f

11、inish of the pressure foot shall be produced under consideration of the relevant part drawing. 3.1.3.1 Code A. For test pieces of at least 300 mm length, Pressure foot (2000.2) mm. 3.1.3.2 Code B. For test pieces less than 300 mm length, Pressure foot (1000.1) mm. 3.2 Test Piece. 3.2.1 A test piece

12、shall be a complete component (a sealing strip). 3.2.2 A test piece shall normally be a length, at least 300 mm in length. If impossible, a piece shall be at least as long as pressure foot. 3.2.3 For initial sample approval and arbitration purposes, at least 2 test pieces cut from at least 3 compone

13、nts shall be tested, for routine quality control, at least 1 test pieces, preferably more than 1 component, shall be tested. 4 Procedures 4.1 Conditions. 4.1.1 Test Conditions. Deviations from the requirements of this standard shall have been agreed upon. Such requirements shall be specified on comp

14、onent drawings, test certificates, reports, etc. 4.1.2 Conditioning. For initial sample approval and arbitration purposes, the minimum time period between vulcanization and testing of elastomers shall be 7 days. For routine quality control the period shall be 3 days. The test pieces shall remain at

15、a temperature of +23 E 5K for at least 8 hours before testing without strain during this period. 4.2 Instructions. 4.2.1 The test shall be performed at a temperature of (235) E . The test piece shall be lightly dusted with talc, and any excess removed. 4.2.2 The test piece shall be fixed into the te

20、2.3 For Code A, the pressure foot shall then be allowed to contact the test piece under a steady force of (2.0 0.1) N. For Code B, the pressure foot shall contact to the test piece under a steady force 0.5 1 N. 4.2.4 While the above force is applied, the deflection scale shall be set to zero. The te

21、st piece is then deflected by the pressure foot at a uniform rate of 12 mm/min for Code A and 30 mm/min for Code B, as specified on the relevant part drawing. 4.2.5 The force required to maintain this deflection shall be read off the load cell (102) seconds after the specified deflection is achieved

22、. 5 Data 5.1 Expression of Results. The compressibility shall be expressed in N (Newton), rounded up to the nearest 0.01. 6 Safety This standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment.
