The purpose of this standard is to determinate the residual deformation of elastomers which have been subjected to a constant deformation for a periods at a room temperature or more. 2 References Note: Onl

None 3 Resources 3.1 Equipment. 3.1.1 Thickness Gauge. The thickness gauge must be capable of indicating the test pi

5、ece thickness to an accuracy of 0.01 mm. The two contact members consist of domed surfaces of diameter 25 mm, formed on rods 10mm diameter, between which the test pieces are placed. The contact pressure between the contact members shall be (0.850.03) N. The thickness gauge shall normally consist of

9、ersion : 5 4 Procedures 4.1 Conditions. 4.1.1 Test Conditions. Deviations from the requirements of this standard shall have been agreed upon. Such requirements shall be specified on component drawings, test certificates, reports, etc. 4.1.2 Conditioning. For initial sample approval and arbitration p

10、urposes, the minimum period between vulcanization and testing shall be 7 days. For routine quality control tests, the minimum period shall be 3 days. The test pieces shall be maintained at a temperature of +23 E 5K for at least 8 hours, immediately prior to test, and shall be free from strain during

11、 this period. 4.1.3 Period and Temperature of Test. The test should be carried out one of the following conditions. 12、ed / -$ 9I 4.2 Instructions. 4.2.1 The initial thickness (h0) of the test piece is accurately measured to within 0.05 mm at a temperature of 23 E 5K (measured at center of cylindrical test pieces). Components or portions of components of irregular shape are measured at their thickest point. 4.2.2 Af

13、ter determine the compression set at 25 %, the test piece are placed on the lower pressure plate. 4.2.3 The spacers shall be interposed on each side and the upper plate shall be placed on the test piece with the direction of compression. 4.2.4 The upper plate shall be brought down so as to compress

16、al conductivity(e.g. wooden bench top), for a period of 30 minutes, at a temperature of 23 E 5K. 4.2.7 The thickness h2 will be measured. 4.2.8 After measurement, cut the test piece. If any internal defects, such as porosity, are discovered, the test result should be rejected. 5 Data 5.1 Evaluations

17、. The compression set, expressed as a percentage of the initial deflection is calculated as follows.
