PURPOSE This standard is used to determine the elastic modulus of plastics through tensile, compression and flexural

3、tests. 2. SCOPE This standard applies to the method of determining elastic modulus of plastics by conducting tensile, compression and flexural tests under specified conditions. 3. DEFINITION 3.1. Elastic modulus based on tensile test. Elastic modulus based on tensile test indicates the relation betw

4、een the stress( ) and elongation ( ) depending on extension of test pieces. If the el

9、ongation or compression of the outside layer is very little with 0.5% max., the following formula shall apply to the elastic modulus. Flexural load testing 4. PREPARATION OF TEST PIECES 4.1. Test specimens shall be prepared by compression or inject

11、ion molding of the material to be tested or by machining the material in sheets of an appropriate size. If the sheets are an isotropic ones, they shall be prepared in both of horizontal and vertical direction. 4.2. For tensile test, use a dumbbell type of test piece, the detail dimensions are follow

12、 the EDS-T-7511. 4.3. For compression test, test pieces conforming to the following shall be used. 4.3.1. Take test pieces from the products of a thickness of 5 mm min. The test pieces shall be rectangular parallelepipeds having one regular square face(length a5 mm) and of a length (LP) of 510a). He

13、re, the length of the marking line shall not exceed . 4.3.2. When using products of a thickness of 5 mm max, the test pieces shall be rectangular parallelepipeds of (805) mm (120.5) mm thickness(mm). 4.3.3. When using cylindric products of a diameter (d) of 5 mm min, the test pieces shall be 510 a)

14、long (LP) and the length of the marking line shall not exceed LP. For the flex

15、ural test, test pieces of (1272) mm (12.70.5) mm (6.40.2) mm shall be used. And for the detail dimensions are follow EDS-T-7518. 5. NUMBER OF TEST PIECES 5.1. In case of isotropic material, three test pieces shall be tested. 5.2. In case of aeolotropic material, each three test pieces shall be teste

16、d in both horizontal and vertical direction respectively 6. CONDITIONING Unless otherwise specified, test piece should be conditioned at the standard temperature and humidity for 16 hours at least. For a special purpose, keep the test pieces until getting almost constant weight. 7. APPARATUS 7.1. Al

17、l tensile testers and compression testing machines, which are conforming to the requirements of the standard, can be used. 7.2. Such a measuring device that can measure extension or compressibility up to 0.1% with an accuracy of 2% shall be used. 7.3. For the flexural of test pieces, a measuring dev

18、ice which can measure the curve with an accuracy of 0.01 mm shall be used. 7.4. Such a measuring device that can measure the length, width and diameter of test pieces with an accuracy of 0.01 mm shall be used. 7.5. In case of thin specimens, support jigs as shown in Fig. 3 to prevent reflection of t

19、he test piece shall be applied. 20、 8.1. Unless otherwise specified, conduct tests under the standard temperature and humidity condition. Measure the thickness, width and diameter of the test thickness, width and diameter of the test piece at five points along the length of the marking line up to 0.01 mm and calculate the mean values

21、. 8.2. During tensile test, load-extension values are determined at the speed of elongation of 1%/min. This speed means that approximately the grip speed is 1mm/min. 8.3. During compression test, load-deformation values are determined at the speed of compression of 1%/min. So the (speed of the) movi

22、ng cross head shall be regulated to this speed. When mounting the test piece on the support jigs, the upper side of the test piece shall protrude from the jigs and the lower on shall be equal to the surface height of the jigs. Each two parts of the jigs shall be tightened to contact slightly with th

23、e test piece not to interfere in compressing. 8.4. During flexural test, load-deflection values are determined at the speed of extension of 1%/min on the outside layer of the piece. 9. Elastic modulus can be calculated by the increase of deformation( ) which is equivalent to the inclination of the inclination
