This standard covers the properties of mineral filled, heat stabilized, injection molding grade polypropylene copolymer. 1.1 Material Description. Approved paint systems that can

3、 be used on this material are listed in the GM Approved Paint on Parts Systems (APOPS) database. 1.2 Symbols. The material abbreviation according to ISO 11469 is PP/PE-YYXX. The symbol has to be completed by the supplier according to the mineral type and content. 1.3 Typical Applications. Typical ap

4、plications include the following: underhood sight shields. 1.4 Remarks. Unless otherwise specified, injection molding of test specimens shall be accomplished per ISO 294 with the conditions for injection molding from I

7、SO 1873-2. Test methods and specimen dimensions are also to be in accordance with ISO 1873-2 with the following addition: Use ISO 3167; Type A, thickness 4 mm, for tensile and flexural properties. 3.1.1 Materials approved to this specification shall meet the requirements of GMW3013, General Requirem

Important physical, mechanical, and thermal properties that characterize the material are summarized in Table 1 and Table 2. Note: The requirements to Table 1 and Table 2 shall be documented for self-certifica

10、tion of the product according to GMW3013. The color shall be specified on drawings, in material specifications, and otherwise. 3.1.3 All tests shall be performed on specimens for 40 h minimum after molding and immediately following a conditioning period of 24 h minimum in a controlled atmosphere per

11、 GMW3221, Code A, unless otherwise specified. All tests shall be performed on unannealed specimens. 3.1.4 The values specified in Table 1 and Table 2 shall be met by test specimens in natural or black. For colored grades where other pigment and additive systems (e.g., stabilizer) are used, the impac

12、t values shall not decrease more than 10% from the specified minimum value. 3.2 Chemical Requirements. All parts manufactured from molding compounds shall be resistant to the media they contact at their place of use. 3.3 Requirements on Materials. Refer to Table 1 and Table 2. 3.4 Performance Requir

13、ements. Performance requirements, e.g., flammability, fogging, or resistance to odor shall be specified on part drawings or in component specifications. All finished parts for interior applications shall meet the requirements according to GMW14444. All finished parts for Exterior applications shall

14、meet the requirements according to GMW14650. All finished parts for underhood applications shall meet the requirements according to GMW15725. 3.5 Compound Properties. The following are also required for full specification approval: The minimum number of lots per test required is one (1) in natural.

15、Tensile Modulus, Poissons Ratio, and Stress Strain Curve at +23 C, +85 C, -30 C. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) Curve; Multiaxial Impact Curve, and Infrared Spectroscopy Curve. All materials must satisfy applicable laws, rules, regulations and recommendations vali

27、d in the country of usage. 5.2 Language. In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence. 5.3 Inspection and Rejection. Samples of components or materials released to a GM material specification shall be tested for conformity with the re

28、quirements of this material specification and approved by the responsible GM Engineering department prior to commencement of delivery of bulk supplies. A new approval must be received for any changes, e.g., properties, manufacturing process, location of manufacture, etc. If not otherwise agreed, all

29、 testing and documentation normally required for initial release must be completed. It is the responsibility of the supplier to inform the customer in a timely manner, without solicitation, and to include documentation of all modifications of materials and/or processes and to apply for a new release

30、. If not otherwise agreed, all release tests shall be repeated and documented by the supplier prior to commencement of delivery of non-conforming bulk supplies. In individual cases, a shorter test can be agreed to between the responsible GM Engineering department and the supplier. 5.4 Material Safet

31、y Data Sheets/Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS). For new product submissions, or when a change in chemical composition of an existing product has occurred, a complete copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet must be submitted in compliance with the Globally Harmonized System of Classific

32、ation and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) requirements or other country-specific MSDS/SDS requirements. In addition, product MSDS/SDS submissions must be in compliance with specific country General Motors TMC003 Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet guidance documents where available. 5.5 All mat

33、erials supplied to this standard must comply with the requirements of GMW3059, Restricted and Reportable Substances for Parts. 6 Approved Sources Materials supplied to this specification must be approved by General Motors. A list of approved materials can be found in MATSPC. This GM Material File is

34、 provided to third parties to reduce redundant testing of materials. If approved material already listed is used, the part supplier can use GM Material File reference for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) material approval. If the decision is made to use a not yet approved material, contact th

35、e Plastics Global Subsystem Leadership Team for detail on the approval process. The material approval process must be completed prior to PPAP start date of the part supplied to General Motors.
