2、ty requirement for decorative and/or functional interior or exterior parts which are fiber coated with pre-dyed fibers. 1.1 Material Description. The fibers are generally nylon or polyester. The substrates are generally polypropylene, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polycarbonate, painted met

3、al. The adhesive used for the application of the fibers to the substrate shall be approximately the same color as the fiber or clear, must be resistant to heat, light, humidity, etc., and shall not cause staining of the fiber coating or adjacent materials. The appearance of substrate may be reviewed

4、 by related team. 1.1.1 For requirements for vehicles without solar absorbing glass, contact the appropriate Materials Engineer. All interior materials are developed to be used in vehicles with solar glass; therefore, performance may be compromised if used in non-solar glass vehicles. 1.2 Symbols. T

5、he finish symbol code defines the material construction and will be assigned by the responsible department. 1.3 Typical Applications. Suitable for IP storage, console box, etc. 1.4 Remarks. All materials covered by this specification are subject to part performance testing through part validation in

8、ments on Test Specimens. All test specimens shall be conditioned to GMW3221 Code A for a minimum of 24 h, unless the test method indicates that standard conditioning is not required or that other conditions apply. 3.2 Test Data. Lab testing shall be performed by a laboratory that conforms (meets req

9、uirements but may not be formally recognized by a third party) to ISO/IEC 17025 and is acceptable to the responsible GM department. Supplier shall submit a letter of compliance. 3.3 Sampling and Test Specimen Preparation. Prepare test specimen as required in the respective test method. The test spec

10、imen may be prepared by supplier if required. 3.4 Data Reporting. If all individual readings of a specific test meet or exceed the specified requirements, report the average. Unless otherwise stated, any individual reading outside the specified limit does not meet the requirement. Report all individ

11、ual test results that do not meet the requirements. All required information shall be reported on the Construction Certification Forms (see Appendix A). 3.5 Visual Evaluation of Automotive Trim. (GMW6992). The color, pattern, aesthetics and other related qualities shall be evaluated and approved by

13、ed February 2012 Page 2 of 8 department as an acceptable match to the engineering approval sample when viewed under conditions set forth in GMW6992. There shall be no appreciable dust out (fiber loss), and the fiber coating shall be of uniform density covering the total area as shown on the engineer

14、ing drawing. The density and upright position of the fibers shall be equivalent to the approved sample. 3.6 Deviation from Defined Test Methods. Deviations from the conditions of any test method shall be agreed upon between supplier and vehicle manufacturer. All deviations shall be specified on the

15、component drawings, material construction specification form, and Statement of Requirements and shall be indicated as such on test certificates and reports. 3.7 Documentation. Samples of components or material released to this specification shall be tested for conformity with the requirements of thi

16、s specification and approved by the responsible GM Department prior to the start of delivery of production level components or materials. 3.7.1 Any change to the component or material, e.g., design, function, properties, manufacturing process and/or location of manufacture requires a new release of

17、the product. It is the sole responsibility of the supplier to provide the customer, unsolicited, with documentation of any change or modification to the product/process, and to apply for a new release. 3.7.2 If not otherwise agreed to, the entire verification test shall be repeated and documented by

18、 the supplier prior to start of delivery of the modified or changed product. In some cases, a shorter test can be agreed to between the responsible GM Department and the supplier. 3.8. Construction Requirements. The fibers shall conform to all applicable drawings and/or textile and finish engineerin

19、g construction specifications for length, denier, luster, etc. These requirements describe the initial testing to be completed when a new construction is being considered. For a complete construction package section 3.9 must also be completed on a representative color. If the substrate or adhesive c

20、hanges, then perform 3.8 in its entirety. The substrate should be approved by the responsible Materials Engineer. 3.8.1 Scuffing and Marring (Linear Abrasion) (GMW14125 Code A2X2). A slight mark is acceptable. A noticeable mark is not. Record the results. 3.8.1.1 As Received. Test three specimens in

21、 as received condition. 3.8.1.2 After Humidity. Test three specimens after 24 h pre-conditioning at 38 2 C and 95 5% relative humidity (RH) within 10 minutes of removal from the humidity. 3.8.1.3 After Solvent Exposure Naphtha (CAS-No. 64742-49-0). Test three specimens. Briefly soak the cotton rubbi

22、ng cloth in naphtha and wring out the excess. Place the cotton rubbing cloth over the test specimen and allow it to remain there for five minutes. Remove the cotton rubbing cloth and immediately test the specimen. 3.8.2 Knife Peel Test (ISO 8510-2). Minimum 12 N/2.5 cm, peel back rate 250 mm/minute.

23、 3.8.2.1 As Received. See 3.8.1.1. 3.8.2.2 After Humidity. See 3.8.1.2. 3.8.2.3 After Solvent Exposure. See 3.8.1.3. 3.8.3 Abrasion Resistance (GMW3208). CS-10 Taber abrasion wheels. 24、(Glove box, Console box, etc.) 1000 g 300 Low wear areas (Sunglass box, etc.) 500 g 300 3.8.4 Water Spotting (GMW14102). Specimen size shall be 200 x 200 mm. Amount of water used shall be 5.0 ml. Perform the water spotting procedure three times on the same area, allowing the specimen to dry for at l

25、east 24 h after each application of water. Evaluate after each drying process and report the most noticeable results. No staining, ring formation or haptic change is allowed. If the water wicks to the edge, increase the specimen size. 3.8.5 Odor (GMW3205). Report both wet and dry results. A rating o

26、f 6 is required. Use a ratio of specimen size to container size of 1:50. 3.8.6 Flammability (GMW3232). Note: If material is a composite (as defined in the test procedure) or is to be used in composite, the composite must meet this requirement. 3.8.6.1 After Conditioning. Immediately prior to flammab

27、ility testing, all test specimens shall be conditioned for a minimum of 24 h according to GMW3221-A. The test cycle shall commence with 48 1 h at 40 3 C and 93 5% RH followed by 168 1 h at 90 3 C and completed without interruption. Repeat conditioning before testing flammabilit

29、y. 3.8.7 Mildew (GMW3259). There shall be no visible growth or odor of mildew. 3.8.8 Fogging (GMW3235) Gravimetric Method, Code B. The bath temperature is 100 C. Report the average weight of the condensable constituents for three specimens. Requirement is 2.0 mg. Specimens that form crystals, an oil

30、y film, or discernable droplets 0.05 mm in diameter at 40X magnification do not meet this requirement. 3.8.9 Environmental Exposure Resistance. There shall be no appearance change or deterioration of the fibers. Evaluated for objectionable signs of degradation, including color change (yellowing), ta

31、ckiness, blotchiness, change of gloss, or loss of adhesion, or other undesirable effects. The specimen may be lightly cleaned with cotton rubbing cloth and water and reevaluated if desired. Record all results. 3.8.9.1 Environmental Aging. GMW14124 Cycle S. 3.8.9.2 Oven Aging. Age the specimen at 70

32、C for 168 h in a mechanical convection oven. 3.9 Color Requirements. These requirements describe the testing to be completed with each new color being considered for an approved construction. Any new color shall meet all construction properties and conform to the original construction specification

33、sheet. 3.9.1 Colorfastness to Artificial Light. 3.9.1.1 Xenon Method. Xenon shall be performed and reported for information only. Note: Natural weathering is the requirement for specimen approval. A noticeable value (lightness) and/or chroma (saturation) change with mini

35、mum hue change is acceptable. There shall be no undesirable effects. Evaluate specimens as specified in GMW6992. Reference polystyrene or blue wool is to be used to certify the xenon arc apparatus. 3.9.2 Natural Weathering Exposure Testing - Arizona (GMW3417 U/G-TSTL-XX). A rating of 4 (interior) an

36、d 4-5 (exterior), per ISO 105-A02 gray scale or value change is acceptable. Only slight value (lightness), and or chroma (saturation) with no hue change is acceptable. There shall be no undesirable effects. Evaluate specimens as specified in GMW6992. Record the results. Note: GM is responsible for c

37、onducting the natural weathering testing. Suppliers shall submit, per ISO 216, five (5) A6 size samples of material to the responsible engineer at the developing region. This sample must be from the same lot of material that is tested for construction, and shall be submitted along with the construct

38、ion properties test sample submission package. The sample shall be labeled “For Natural Weathering Test” and include the suppliers name, piece number, date, and GM Finish Symbol and color number on each sample. GM will perform the specified natural weathering test on this sample and advise the suppl

39、ier of compliance or lack of compliance to the requirement. Record all results. 3.9.4.1 Procedure A. Test all soiling agents except for Codes K and M. For exterior parts, test using C

42、ode H only. Apply the soiling agent. Allow each soiling agent to set for 30 minutes at standard conditions; then clean soiling agent using Cleaner 0 within 20 minutes. If soil has not been completely removed, immediately use Cleaner 2. Unless otherwise specified on the appropriate Construction Speci

43、fication sheet, the requirement is 6 for each tested specimen. No ring formation or haptic change is allowed. 3.9.4.2 Procedure B. Use cleaning agents 0 to 5 (code 5 is for information only). Evaluate the specimen for color change using ISO 105-A02 gray scale. Evaluate the staining of the crocking c

44、loth using ISO 105-A03 gray scale. A rating of 4 for both evaluations is required. After testing, if soap and water can be used to remove any rings, stains, etc., the specimen shall be considered satisfactory. 3.9.5 Flammability (GMW3232). Note: If material is a composite (as defined in the test pro

45、cedure) or is to be used as a composite, the composite must meet this requirement. 3.9.5.1 After Conditioning. Immediately prior to flammability testing, all test specimens shall be conditioned for a minimum of 24 h according to GMW3221-A. 3.9.5.2 After Aging. The test cycle shall commence with 48 1

46、 h at 40 3 C and 93 5% RH followed by 168 1 h at 90 3 C and completed without interruption. Repeat conditioning before testing flammability. 3.9.6 Interior Emissions (GMW8081). The relative emission shall be 1.0. 3.9.7 Determination of Volatile and Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and SVOC), (G

47、MW15634). Requirement is VOC 100 g/g, SVOC 250 g/g. 4 Manufacturing Process Not applicable. 5 Rules and Regulations 5.1 Legal Regulations. All materials must satisfy applicable laws, rules, regulations and recommendations valid in the country of usage. 5.2 Language. In the event of conflict between

48、the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence. 5.3 Inspection and Rejection. Samples of components or materials released to a GM material specification shall be tested for conformity with the requirements of this material specification and approved by the responsible

49、Engineering department prior to commencement of delivery of bulk supplies. A new approval must be received for any changes, e.g., properties, manufacturing process, location of manufacture, etc. If not otherwise agreed, all testing and documentation normally required for initial release must be completed. It is the responsibility of the supplier to inform the customer in a timely manner, without solicitation, and
