This specification covers three (3) types of hose, and two (2) constructions of hose, 12.7 mm diameter, and larger, coupled and uncoupled, for use with gasoline, oil, or diesel fuel in automotive fuel systems. Drawin
3、g callouts not referencing a hose construction are assumed to be referencing Construction 1. This hose is not compatible with biodiesel fuel. Type A hose is intended for higher stress applications. 1.1.1 Classification/Material Description. The hoses described in this specification are differentiate
4、d based on the reinforcement and the composition of the different layers into the following types and construction numbers. 1.1.2 Reinforcement to the tube may be applied by braiding, knitting or circular weaving. Type A: Reinforced with aramid fiber. Type B: Reinforced with rayon fiber. Type C: Rei
5、nforced with polyester and nylon in a knit wrap construction with alternating loops of polyester and nylon. Nylon must be looped through polyester. 1.1.3 Constructions 1: This hose shall consist of a smoothbore tube of butadiene/acrylonitrile (NBR) copolymer compound. The cover shall consist of chlo
6、rosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) or chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) compound. The cover may be perforated to facilitate degassing during manufacturing operations. Hose shall be black. The tube shall be reinforced with a yarn or cord applied by braiding, knitting, or circular weaving or of 2 ply counte
7、r directional helical winding. 1.1.4 Construction 2: This hose shall consist of an inner smoothbore tube of butadiene/acrylonitrile (NBR) copolymer compound. The reinforcement shall be an aramid fiber yarn or cord applied by braiding, knitting, or circular weaving or of 2 ply counter directional hel
8、ical winding, centered between two (2) layers of NBR. The cover shall consist of butadiene/acrylonitrile (NBR) copolymer compound, the exact material as the inner tube. Construction 2 hose may only be used within an enclosed tank system. 1.1.5 Hose Marking. The hose shall be legibly marked with the
9、following information in the sequence stated: Nominal inside diameter expressed as fraction of an inch (e.g., 1 in to in). GM specification number GMW16833 followed by type and construction (e.g., GMW16833 A1). Date code, hose manufacturers code identification as designated by Rubber Manufacturers A
10、ssociation, and the manufacturing plant location code. Such marking shall be printed parallel to the axis in vivid white or light blue block letters not less than 3 mm high and the open space between the specified markings shall not exceed 25 mm. 1.1.6 The date code shall consist of six (6) digits:
11、The first two (2) digits shall represent the month (01 thru 12) of the year, the next two (2) shall represent the day of the month (01 thru 31), and the last two (2) shall be the last two (2) digits of the year. 1.1.7 Additionally, one or more colored tracers shall be incorporated into the wall of t
12、he hose identifying the hose manufacturer. The color(s) shall be as designated by the Rubber Manufacturers Association. 1.1.8 Parts conforming to this specification that are too short for the marking required in 1.1.5 shall be marked as specified by the purchasers engineering department. 14、sions and Tolerances. Hose furnished to this specification shall conform to the dimensions and tolerances shown in Table 1 for the size (nominal inside diameter) specified by the purchaser conforms to SAE J30 (SAE 30R7). Hose cover wall thickness shall be between 25% and 40% of total wall thickness.
15、 Concentricity based on total indicator reading between inside bore of hose and outer surface of hose shall not exceed 1.3 mm. Wall gage for sizes 31.75 thru 44.45 mm shall be between 4.3 mm and 5.6 mm and for sizes 50.80 thru 63.5 mm between 4.3 mm and 6.4 mm. Construction 2 hose shall have a hose
16、wall tolerance of 1.2 mm. The test facilities and equipment shall be in good workin
22、g order and shall have a valid calibration label. 3.1.2 Alternatives. Alternative test facilities and equipment may also be used. However, all measuring variables as specified in this standard shall be determined correctly with respect to their physical definition. 3.1.3 Facilities. Conforming to th

Conforming to the relevant test procedures. 3.1.5 Test Vehicle/Test Piece/Test Samples Unless otherwise specified, the shape and size of test pieces shall be in accordance with the relevant test procedure. Minimum six (6) test samples (hoses) are required
24、 for initial sample testing. Minimum three (3) test samples (hoses) are required for inspection testing. Samples are finished parts or to be taken from finished parts. Where the dimensions on the finished parts do not allow preparing of test pieces, tests are to be performed on sheet material of sam
25、e production batch. The same state of cure between slabs or buttons and finished parts must be assured by appropriate tests, which must be described in the test report. If not otherwise stated, mechanical properties in delivery state and after heat or fluid immersion are to be tested at + 23 C 5 C a
26、nd with the same test methods. Unless otherwise stated, ambient temperature test conditions shall be held to + 23 C 5 C. Unless otherwise stated, all other temperatures except + 23 C 5 C shall be held to 3 C. 3.1.6 Test Time. Not applicable. 3.1.7 Test Required Information. Not applicable. 3.1.8 Per

Samples of components or material released to this standard shall be tested for conformity with the requirements of this standard a
30、nd approved by the responsible GM Department prior to the start of delivery of production level components or materials. Any change to the component or material, e.g., design, function, properties, manufacturing process and/or location of manufacture requires a new release of the product. It is the
31、sole responsibility of the supplier to provide the customer, unsolicited, with documentation of any change or modification to the product/process, and to apply for a new release. If not otherwise agreed to, the entire verification test shall be repeated and documented by the supplier prior to start
32、of delivery of the modified or changed product. In some cases, a shorter test can be agreed to between the responsible GM department and the supplier. 3.7.1 Test Results. See Section 4. 34、e followed wherever applicable. Unless otherwise noted, test procedures are required for both Construction 1 and Construction 2 hose. 4.1 Tensile Strength and Elongation. Original tensile strength of tube and cover, MPa minimum: 8.3 Original elongation of tube, percent (%) minimum: 225 Original elon
35、gation of cover, percent (%) minimum: 200 4.2 Adhesion Test. The minimum force required to separate a 25 mm wide sample of the cover from the reinforcement and tube and of the tube from the reinforcement and the cover shall be 1.4 N/mm of width when tested in accordance with the ASTM D413, Machine M
36、ethod, 180 peel test. 4.3 Gasoline Extractables Test. Gasoline Extractables, as determined by GMW15423, using Gasoline Test Fuel per GMW14914, shall not exceed 5 g/m2 of inside surface area based on the inside diameter of the hose. Note: Area is based on gage pin measurement of inside diameter of ho
37、se. 4.4 Oil Resistance. Oil age test samples for 70 h at 125 C 2 C in ASTM D4678, GME L0004 oil. Remove samples from the heated oil and allow cooling at room temperature in fresh ASTM D4678, IRM 903 oil for 30 5 minutes. 4.4.1 The tensile strength and elongation values of specimens taken from the tu
38、be shall conform to the following. Original tensile strength: -30% or 6.6 MPa minimum Original elongation, percent (%): - 40 maximum or 150 minimum 4.4.2 The volume change of samples taken from the tube and cover shall be within the following limits. Tube, volume change, percent (%): - 5 to + 15 Cov
39、er, Construction 1, volume change, percent (%).0 to + 60 Cover, Construction 2, volume change, percent (%).0 to + 15 4.5 Dry Heat Resistance. This is not required for Construction 2 hose. Expose a 300 mm length of hose for a period of 1 h at 125 C 2 C. Remove the hose from the oven and plug each end
40、 with a short nylon or metal rod and resume heat aging for 720 h. Remove the hose from the oven, remove plugs, and allow to cool to room temperature for a minimum of 2 h. A 25 mm wide section of hose cut from the center of the test sample shall show no cracks, charring or disintegration either exter
41、nally or internally when flexed between flat plates within 4 s thru one-half (1/2) of its nominal inner diameter (ID). 4.6 Permeability Test. Permeability , as determined by GMW14680, Method B, shall not exceed 90 g/m2/24 h of inside surface area based on the inside diameter of the hose. Note: Area
42、is based on gage pin measurement of inside diameter of hose. 4.7 Sequential Test Requirements. 4.7.1 Heat Aging, Ozone Resistance. This is not required for Construction 2 hose. The hose cover shall pass the ozone resistance test with a rating no greater than zero after heat aging. 4.7.1.1 Heat Aging
43、. Expose a 25 mm wide by 150 mm long sample cut from the hose cover along the longitudinal axis of the hose for 70 h at 125 C 2 C. 4.7.1.2 Ozone Resistance Test. 4.7.1.2.1 Ozone test procedure and apparatus shall be in accordance with ISO 1431-1, 50 pphm, 20% strain, 40 C 2 C, 72 h Visual Examinatio
44、n. No cracks shall be evident at end of test. 4.7.1.2.2 At the end of the test period, a visual evaluation shall be made. No cracks shall be evident. 4.7.2 Fuel Exposure and Cold Flexibility, Burst Strength. Hose shall pass the cold flexibility test and burst strength after conditioning ASTM Referen
45、ce Fuel C. 4.7.2.1 Fuel Exposure. 4.7.2.1.1 Fill two (2) 300 mm long samples of hose with Fuel C and seal both ends. 4.7.2.1.2 Allow filled hoses to stand at room temperature for 48 h. 47、long sample out of the middle of one of the 300 mm long test samples and test as follows: 4.7.2.2 Cold Flexibility. Expose a 25 mm length of hose for 70 h in a cold chamber at - 40 C 2 C and while in the cold chamber, flex the hose between flat plates within a period of 4 s through one-half (1/2) it
48、s nominal ID. The hose shall not fracture and shall not show any cracks, checks, or breaks in the tube or cover. 4.7.2.3 Burst Strength. The minimum bursting strength of the second 300 mm long sample of hose after Fuel C exposure shall be 1.20 MPa for Type A hose, 345 kPa for Type B and Type C hose.
49、 4.7.3 Fuel Exposure, Heat Aging, and Ozone Resistance. This is not required for Construction 2 hose. Hose shall pass ozone resistance test with a rating no greater than zero after exposure to the following sequential tests. 4.7.3.1 Fuel Exposure.
