The fiberglass construction shall consist of: 3.1.1 Fiberglass insulation core (per GMW14194 Type 2). 3.1.1.1 Surf

8、ace density. As low as possible to meet acoustic targets. a. Nominal: 810 g/m2 10%. b. Range: 610 g/m2 to 1200 g/m2. c. Design value: As specified on engineering drawing. 3.1.1.2 Color. Black (or dark gray, as approved). 3.1.1.3 Thickness. As thick as possible within packaging constraints. See part

9、drawing for specific geometry. 3.1.2 Facings (as required for appearance or dust irritant control). 3.1.2.1 Material. Nonwoven polyester or polyester/rayon blend (per GMW16522). 3.1.2.2 Color. Black (or dark gray, as approved). 3.1.2.3 Surface Density. As low as possible to meet acoustic targets. a.

10、 Range: 36 g/m2 to 68 g/m2 as specified on engineering drawing. 3.1.3 Edge Treatments (as required for dust irritant control). 3.1.3.1 Compressed Edges. Compressed to a maximum thickness of 3 mm, unless specified otherwise. 3.1.3.2 Edge Trimming. a. Pinched edges, preferred when possible. b. Water-j

This construction shall consist of 100% polyester fibers, in a cut to shape, sheet configuration having the properties: 3.2.1 Color. Black (or dark gray, as approved). 3.2.2 Surface Density (per ASTM D3776). As low as possible t

12、o meet acoustic targets. a. Nominal: 370 g/m2 10%. b. Range: 320 g/m2 to 420 g/m2. c. Design value: As specified on drawing. 3.2.3 Thickness. Dependent on acoustical targets and packaging constraints. 3.2.4 Tensile Strength = 70 N minimum (machine and across machine direction) when tested per ASTM D

13、5034 grab method, 305 mm/minute jaw speed. 3.2.5 Tear Strength = 125 N minimum (machine and across machine direction) when tested per ASTM D1117, trapezoid method. 3.2.6 Wear Resistance = 300 cycles minimum when tested per SAE J1530. 3.3 Type C Polyester-Moldable ECSA. This construction consists of

14、a blend of several types of 100% thermoplastic polyester fibers having melt point differences which permit compression molding into parts with the properties: 3.3.1 Surface Density. As low as possible to meet acoustic targets. a. Nominal: 800 g/m2 10%. b. Range: 600 g/m2 to 1000 g/m2. c. Design valu

15、e: As specified on drawing. 3.3.2 Color. Black (or dark gray, as approved). 3.3.3 Thickness. As thick as possible within packaging constraints. See part drawing for specific geometry. 3.4 Type D Shoddy ECSA. This construction consists of synthetic resin bonded textile fiber fleece, compression molde

Design value: As specified on drawing. 3.4.2 Facings. As required for appearance or dust irritant contro

18、l. a. Nonwoven polyamide 66, polyester or cellulose. 3.4.3 Color. Black on appearance side. 3.4.4 Edge Treatments. Trim edges heat sealed. 3.4.5 Thickness. As thick as possible within packaging constraints. See part drawing for specific geometry. 3.5 Type E Blended Synthetic Fiber Insulator ECSA. Th

19、is construction shall consist of a homogeneous mixture of synthetic fibers entangled or needled together into a random orientation. A sufficient percentage of thermoplastic fiber or thermo set resin is included in the blend to enable molding by a thermoforming process. A decorative facing may be req

20、uired per the part drawing. 3.5.1 Surface Density. As low as possible to meet acoustic targets. a. Nominal: 1000 g/m2 10%.b. Range: 800 g/m2 to 1200 g/m2.c. Design value: As specified on the part drawing. 3.5.2 Color. Black (or dark gray, as approved). 3.5.3 Thickness. As thick as possible within pa

21、ckaging constraints. See part drawing for specific geometry. 3.6 Type F Sheet Polyurethane Foam for ECSA. This construction shall consist of polyurethane foam laminated on one or both surfaces with either an aluminum foil, scrim facing, or both. 3.6.1 Polyurethane Foam Tested per ASTM D3574. a. Dens

22、ity: As specified on part drawing, per acoustical noise requirements. 3.6.2 Facings. a. Material: Non-woven polyester or polyester/rayon blend (per GMW16522). b. Color. Black (or dark gray, as approved). 3.6.3 Aluminum Foil. Foil thickness to be called out on part drawing. 3.7 Type G/H (low temperat

23、ure/high temperature) Cast Polyurethane Foam for ECSA. This construction shall consist of polyurethane foam that is cast (molded) into the desired geometry. Cast foam should be skinned on entire surface. Cast polyurethane foam tested per GMW16750, Type 1. 3.7.1 Density. Cast foam with density 120 kg

24、/m3 16 kg/m3 or as low as possible to meet acoustical targets. 3.7.2 Mechanical Properties per ASTM D3574-E. a. Tensile strength at break: 150 kPa minimum. b. Tensile strength at break after heat aging for 1000 h at 120 C: 80 kPa minimum. c. Elongation: 60% minimum. d. Tear Strength: 500 N/m minimum

25、. 3.8 Type I Melamine Foam for ECSA. This construction shall consist of melamine foam that is thermo-formable into a desired geometry. 3.8.1 Density. Formable foam with a density of 10 kg/m3 3 kg/m3 per ISO 845, or as low as possible to meet acoustical targets. 3.8.2 Mechanical Properties. a. Compre

26、ssive Strength: Minimum 4 kPa per ISO 3386-1. b. Tensile Strength: Minimum 55 kPa per ISO 1798. c. Elongation at break: Minimum 10% per ISO 1798. The acoustic performance of the ECSA shall comply with Table 1 and Table 2. Sound absorption may be determined by either, ASTM E10

28、50 Normal Incidence, or ASTM C423/ISO 354 Random Incidence as defined by part bulk area and packaging limited area thicknesses. (The intent of the “packaging limited“ properties is to allow for local compression where necessary, due to packaging constraints, with limit on reduced acoustic.) See Appe

33、(SAE J1351). The material must have an individual odor scale rating number of four or lower when tested per SAE J1351, as evaluated by a panel of six people. 3.10.1 Remove the jars from the oven and allow to cool to room temperature for a minimum of 15 minutes prior to evaluation. 3.11 Flammability.

34、 Only materials that have been deemed necessary to be V-0 capable shall be tested to 3.11.2 and will carry a V-0 suffix. All other materials shall meet the requirements of 3.11.1 (Reference GMW3232). 3.11.1 Horizontal Flammability Test. The material shall not burn or transmit a flame front across it

35、s surface at a rate more than 100 mm/minute when tested in accordance with GMW3232 (FMVSS 302), both as received and after accelerated aging (GM9200P). However, if a material stops burning before it has burned more than 60 s from the start of timing and has not burned more than 50.8 mm from the poin

36、t where timing was started, it shall be considered to meet this requirement. 3.11.2 Flammability V-0. All materials or layers of material within the defined part must comply with the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 94-V-0 or ASTM D3801-V-0 flammability requirements. Materials requiring a V-0 rating (ex

37、cept polyurethane) shall retain that rating after 3000 h at 140 C. Note: Materials must be tested for compliance after 1000 h at 140 C, to avoid lengthy unnecessary testing. 3.11.2.1 V-0 flammability sheet polyurethane foam (Type F). If the polyurethane foam must meet UL 94 V-0 or ASTM D3801-V-0, th

38、en the following shall apply: a. Flammability rating: UL 94-V-0 optional ASTM D3801-V-0. b. Flammability after heat aging for 168 h at 150 C: UL 94-V-0 or ASTM D3801-V-0. c. Flammability after heat aging for 3000 h at 100 C: UL 94-V-0 or ASTM D3801-V-0. 3.11.2.2 V-0 flammability cast polyurethane fo

39、am (Type G-H). If the cast polyurethane foam must meet UL 94 V-0 or ASTM D3801-V-0, then the following shall apply: a. Flammability rating at 7 mm cross section thickness: UL 94-V-0 optional ASTM D3801-V-0. b. Flammability after heat aging for 168 h at 150 C at 7 mm: UL 94-V-0 or ASTM D3801-V-0. c.

40、Flammability after heat aging for 3000 h at 100 C at 7 mm: UL 94-V-0 or ASTM D3801-V-0. 3.12 Mildew (GMW3259). Required only if natural fibers are present in the construction. There shall be no visible growth or odor of mildew. 3.13 Humidity (GMW14729). Test after 500 h in humidity. Visually evaluat

41、e every 100 h. 3.14 Environmental Cycle (GMW14124). Run 10 cycles of GMW14124, Cycle G. 3.15 Resistance to Fluids. All materials shall be resistant to the media they contact, such as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, fuels, lubricants, oils, greases and alcohols, at their places of use. Table 3 d

42、efines typical requirements for such resistance to fluids, which apply or do not apply based on installation position. The part drawing shall call out the applicable items. Additional fluids, if applicable, shall be noted on the part drawing. 3.15.1 Standard Engine Compartment Resistance. If Standar

43、d is specified for Resistance to Fluids, the following fluids will be tested as found in Table 3: A, F, H, K, M, N, and P.
