2、aterial Description. Materials shall be classified by Types to identify material construction and properties. Type A shall be hot stamp foils, and Type B shall be ink pad printing. 1.1.1 Type A - Hot Stamp Foils. Foils generally consist of a thin carrier strip of acetate, cellophane, or polyester fi
3、lm (depending on application), a release coat, a color, or metallized coat, and a sizing coat (adhesive). When applied to parts, such products are sometimes called hot stamped coatings or finishes, or just “hot stamps”. 1.1.2 Type B - Ink Pad Printing. Pad printing is generally accomplished by addin

After application of graphic to substrate, condition for at least 72 h at room temperature. 3.2.3 Pos
9、t Environmental Exposure Conditioning. After environmental exposure, all samples shall be conditioned for 4 h at room temperature. 3.3 Appearance Durability. Samples prepared per 3.2 shall not show any surface deterioration, objectionable shrinkage, objectionable color or gloss change, delamination,
10、 edge lifting, cracking, visible adhesion loss, pitting, blistering, or any other degradation after exposure to any of the following tests (per Table 1). Heat aging Humidity aging Thermal cycling Salt spray Fluid exposure 3.4 Tape Adhesion per GMW14829. Hot stamps bonded to a representative producti
11、on substrate shall have a maximum rating of 1 after the conditions listed in Table 1. Allow 1 h room temperature dwell before testing. 13、ce -30 C with -40 C and 70 C with 150 C. 3.8 Neutral Salt Spray (NSS) (GMW3286). Expose samples prepared per 3.2 to 168 h of NSS. 3.9 Resistance to Fluids. All materials shall be resistant to the media they contact, such as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, fuels, lubricants, oils, greases and al
14、cohols at their places of use. Table 2 defines typical requirements for such resistance to fluids which apply or do not apply based on installation position. The part drawing shall call out the applicable items. Additional fluids, if applicable, shall be noted on the part drawing. 3.9.1 Standard Eng
15、ine Compartment Resistance. If standard is specified for resistance to fluids, the following fluids will be tested as found in Table 2: A, F, H, K, M, N, and P. Note: Other regional Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) initial fill equivalent liquids may be used per the discretion of the approving
16、GM Engineer. Part shall be resistant to the liquids of the region the part is delivered to. 3.9.2 Fluids A, B, D to M, and O to Q: Test per GMW14334 - X - Rating 4, 1 h immersion time. 3.9.3 Fluids C and N: Test per GMW14334 - B - Rating 4. 3.9.4 Requirement. There shall be no color change, loss of
17、bond, material degradation, or tackiness following the test. All materials must satisfy applicable laws, rules, regulations and recommendations valid in the country of u
26、sage. 5.2 Language. In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence. 5.3 Inspection and Rejection. Samples of components or materials released to a GM material specification shall be tested for conformity with the requirements of this ma
27、terial specification and approved by the responsible Engineering department prior to commencement of delivery of bulk supplies. A new approval must be received for any changes, e.g., properties, manufacturing process, location of manufacture, etc. If not otherwise agreed, all testing and documentati
28、on normally required for initial release must be completed. It is the responsibility of the supplier to inform the customer in a timely manner, without solicitation, and to include documentation of all modifications of materials and/or processes and to apply for a new release. If not otherwise agree
29、d, all release tests shall be repeated and documented by the supplier prior to commencement of delivery of non-conforming bulk supplies. In individual cases, a shorter test can be agreed to between the responsible Engineering department and the supplier. 5.4 Material Safety Data Sheets/Safety Data S
30、heets (MSDS/SDS). For new product submissions, or when a change in chemical composition of an existing product has occurred, a complete copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet must be submitted in compliance with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemi
31、cals (GHS) requirements or other country-specific MSDS/SDS requirements. In addition, product MSDS/SDS submissions must be in compliance with specific country General Motors TMC003 Material Safety Data Sheet/Safety Data Sheet guidance documents where available. 5.5 All materials supplied to this sta
32、ndard must comply with the requirements of GMW3059, Restricted and Reportable Substances for Parts. 6 Approved Sources Materials supplied to this specification must be approved by General Motors. The appropriate GM Materials Engineering department(s) must confirm material as meeting the requirements
33、 of this specification. Any test data sheets of material submitted to General Motors for such confirmation (e.g., during Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) under this material specification must list all properties and must apply corresponding test methods of this material specification. 7 Note
