The drive-in car wash resistance of Windshield Wipers, Back Window Wipers and Headlamp Wash/Wipe Systems shall be evaluated on the ve

3、hicle using this standard. 1.2 Foreword. This test is to be run in conjunction with GMW14528. 1.3 Applicability. This document is applicable for all car, Multipurpose Passenger Vehicle (MPV), and truck models produced by GM. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless

4、 otherwise specified. 2.1 External Standards/Specifications. None 2.2 GM Standards/Specifications. GMW3600 GMW14528 2.3 Additional References. GM Security Guidelines Subsystem Technical Specification 3 Resources 3.1 Facilities. At least 2 car washes of differing construction (operating principle) ar

5、e to be used in this test. The location and type of car wash is to be documented in the test report. Also include a picture of the carwash. 3.1.1 Calibration. The test facilities and equipment shall be in good working order and shall have a valid calibration label. 3.1.2 Alternatives. Alternative te

6、st facilities and equipment may also be used. However, all measuring variables as specified in this standard shall be determined correctly with respect to their physical definition. 3.2 Equipment. Equipment for determination of actual values of the wash/wipe system. 3.3 Test Vehicle/Test Piece. Vehi

7、cle with installed wash/wipe system. Test samples shall be of production intent design and material for design validation (DV); or, production intent design and materials manufactured with production processes (home line) for product validation (PV). Any changes to the components or material, e.g.,

8、design, fit, form, function, properties, manufacturing process, and/or location of manufacture require revalidation. GM shall approve validation methods for product/process changes before the supplier is committed to the change. Refer to GMW3600. 3.4 Test Time. Calendar time: 1 day Test hours: 8 hou

Requirements from the Subsystem Technical Specification (SSTS) or respective specification are necessary in order to execute test methods in this procedure in Section 4 of this standard. Equipment and test sample detail is included in 3.2 of

11、 this standard. 3.5.1 GM Validation is to be notified of test failures within 24 hour period of occurrence. 3.5.2 Supplier to develop 5-phase document for all test failures. 3.5.2.1 When de-trimming vehicle, note if removal or reinstallation of any components may affect test results. 3.5.3 All other

12、 test specific instructions shall be provided by the test requestor and noted on the test request. 3.5.4 The test conductor will be responsible for adding vehicle and test information on appropriate data sheet. 3.6 Personnel/Skills. 3.6.1 Experience and knowledge about facility operation and equipme

13、nt safety. 3.6.2 Experience in observing, recording, and determining source of water entry into vehicle. 4 Procedure 4.1 Preparation. The wash/wipe system shall be installed in the vehicle and tested in accordance with the drawing specifications. When the actual values are identical to the target va

14、lues of the drawing, the test shall commence. 4.2 Conditions. All conditions specified shall be targeted toward the specified value with any given tolerance () used to compensate for variation. During testing, conditions specified shall not be readjusted within the tolerance unless it is to maintain

15、 the particular test condition within the specified tolerance. If such an adjustment is made, it shall be approved by the appropriate GM engineer prior to the start of any testing. Unless otherwise specified, perform the tests in the as received condition without any special pre-conditioning. 4.2.1

16、Environmental Conditions. The following conditions apply to all tests unless otherwise specified: Temperature: +23 C 3 C. Voltage: VNOM 0.3 V at motor terminals. Humidity 20% to 70% unless otherwise specified. 4.2.2 Test Conditions. Deviations from the requirements of this standard shall have been a

17、greed upon by the GM Designing Engineer (DE) and/or the Subsystem Validation Engineer (SVE). Such requirements shall be specified on component drawings, test certificates, reports, etc. 4.2.3 Position of Wiper Arms. During the first five turns in the car wash, all wiper arms shall be in their normal

18、 parking position. After this, other rest positions shall be selected as required by the Designing Engineer (DE) and/or the Subsystem Validation Engineer (SVE). 4.3 Instructions. 4.3.1 The vehicle shall be driven through at least two car washes of differing construction (operating principle) ten tim

19、es each. 4.3.2 The vehicle shall be examined for external damages/deformation after each turn in the car wash. 4.3.3 After every five turns in the car wash, the vehicle shall be examined for any deviation from the actual values determined prior to the test. 5 Data 5.1 Calculations. 5.2 Interpretatio

20、n of Results. If geometric changes or deviations from the initially determined actual values occur to an undesirable extent, the tests shall be continued in the appropriate manner or repeated using other wash/wiper systems, in order to prove the correctness of the results. 5.3 Test Documentation. Re

21、cord all test results on Data Sheet A1 in Appendix A and include in the test report. Include photographs of the test setup and the individual test results as necessary. Also required in the test report are the exterior test conditions when the test was conducted. The Supplier shall write evaluation

22、reports to document the results of all validation activities and shall make the test results and evaluation reports available to GM Engineers upon request. See GMW3600.
