SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This comercial item description (cid) covers v
2、arious types of food turners. 2. CLASSIFICATION 2.1 Classification. The food turners shall be of the following types and styles (see 7.2) . Type I - Commercial Use Style A - Hamburger turner Style B - Steak turner, unperforated style C - Steak turner, perforated Type II - Household Use Style D - Met
3、al blade Style E - Plastic blade 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3.1 Materials. 3.1.1 Type I, Commercial Use. The blade and tang of type I food turners shall be formed from a single piece of corrosion-resisting steel conforming to a type 300 or 400 series in accordance with ASTM A 167, A 176 or A 276. Th
4、e handle shall be made from polypropylene, nylon, or other suitable plastic. The type I items shall meet the applicable portions of NSF International Criteria C-2 (see 4.1). 3.1.2 Type II, Household Use. The handle of the type II food turners shall be polypropylene or other suitable plastic. The sty
5、le D turner shall have a blade made from corrosion-resisting steel or chrome plated carbon steel. The style E turner shall have a blade made from nylon. Type II turners are not required to meet the NSF International requirements (see 4.1). Beneficial comments, recommendations, additions, deletions,

7、dling ServicesA-A-1 64 OB 3.2 Design. 3.2.1 Type I, Commercial Use. The type I turner dimensions shall be in accordance with Table I and the applicable figure. The blade of the type I turners shall have a Rockwell Hardness of C35 to C45 when measured in accordance with ASTM E 18. The blade shall be
8、cleaned and polished to a 2B or better finish as defined by the American Iron and Steel Institutes Handbook, “Finishes for Stainless Steel“. The handle shall have a textured finish. The style A ha
10、mburger turner shall be in accordance with figure 1. The blade of the style A turner shall be beveled across the front edge at an angle of 20 to 40 degrees. FIGURE 1 - Type I, Style A Turner 3.2.1.2 Styles B and C, Steak turners. The style B and C steak turners shall be in accordance with figure 2.

12、ehold use. The overall length of the type II turnersY shall be 12-1/4 inches (31.lcm), f 3/4 inch. The type II turners shall have either a corrosion-resisting steel or chrome plated carbon steel flat shank with a minimum thickness of 0.060 inch (1.5mm). An alternative shank design shall be round wit
13、h a minimum diameter of 7/32 inch (5.6mm). The handle of the type II household turners have a hanging hole or slot near the end of the handle. The hole or slot shall be a minimum 1/4“ (6.4m) opening. The handle shall be a minimum of 4-1/4 inches (10.8cm) in length. The angle between the blade and sh
14、ank shall be a minimum of 15 degrees. The width of the blade at the leading edge shall be 2-3/4 inches (7.0m), f 3/8 inch. The width of the blade may increase as it approaches the handle. The blade length shall be 4 inches (10.2cm), f 1/2 inch. The blade shall have a series of holes or slots through
15、 the blade. 3.2.2.1 Style D, Metal blade. The style D food turner shall have metal blade made from either corrosion-resisting steel or chrome plated carbon steel. The blade shall have a minimum thickness of 0.013 inch (0.33mm) and a Rockwell hardness of B85 to 90 when measured in accordance with AST
16、M E 18. 3.2.2.2 Style E, Nylon blade. The style E food turner shall have a nylon blade with a minimum thickness of 0.070 inch (1.8m) when measured one inch back from the leading edge. 3.3 Marking. The food turners shall be marked with the manufacturers name, trade name, or trademark of such known ch
17、aracter that the source may be readily determined. 3.4 Workmanship. The food turners shall be clean and free from dirt, rough or sharp edges (except for the front edge of the blade), slivers, burrs, deep scratches, tool marks, or other defects which may affect appearance or serviceability. Handles s
18、hall be shaped or contoured in accordance with the manufacturers commercial practice to provide a comfortable and positive grip. Handle and tang shall fit flush and all corners and edges of handles, except ends, shall be rounded. 3.5 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will b
19、e considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within tolerances specified and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound
20、 units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. 3.6 Standard commercial product. The food turners shall, as a minimum, be in accordance with the requirements of this CID and shall be the manufacturers standard commercial product. A standard comm
21、ercial product is a product which has been sold or is currently offered for sale on the commercial market through advertisements, manufacturers catalogs, or brochures, and represents the latest production model. 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 4.1 NSF International compliance. The contractor shall submit
22、 to the contracting officer or authorized representative, prior to awarding of contract, satisfactory evidence that the type I items offered meet the requirements of NSF International Criteria C-2. Satisfactory evidence of this compliance may be any of the following: “Figures are not shown for the t

24、s“, and display of the NSF International mark on the finished item; or (2) Certification issued by NSF International under their special contract evaluation/certification program for government contracts; or (3) Certified test report from a recognized independent testing laboratory acceptable to the
25、 medical authority of the service for which the item(s) are being procured stating that the item has been tested and conforms to NSF International Criteria C-2. Acceptance of the independent testing laboratory to the medical authority shall be based on the laboratory submitting to the contracting of
26、ficer a written letter from either the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), Gaithersburg, MD, or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Washington, DC, stating the independent testing laboratory has been evaluated and is accredited for testing and evaluating food serv
27、ice equipment for conformance with applicable NSF International Standards and Criteria. Accreditation of the independent testing laboratory by A2LA or ANSI must be completed prior to item testing. 4.2 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum
28、 extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5. QUALITY ASSUWCE PROVISIONS 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producers own drawings, specif
29、ications, standards, and quality assurance practices and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 6. PACKAGING 6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specifie
