7、racks and imperfections. Each of the sample blades shall be examined to de- termine full compliance with 3.1. Any indica- tion of flaws, cracks, or imperfections shall be grounds for rejection. Examination shall be performed by a process subject to the ap- proval of the bureau or activity concerned.
8、 Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), exami- nation shall be performed in accordance with MIEI-6868. 4.4 Hardness test. Each of the sample blades selected in accordance with 4.2.3 shall be subjected to a Rockwell hardness test to determine compliance with 3.3. If any blade in the sample fails this
9、test, this shall be cause for rejection of the lot represented by the sample. 4.4.1 Possible test failures. Possible test failures are defined as follows: (a) Hardness. (1) Hardness of blade not within the specified values on the Rockwell C scale. 4.5 Examination of preparation for deliv- ery. The p

PREPARATI
11、ON FOR DELIVERY (For civil agencies, Fed. Std. No. 102 should be referred to for definitions and applications of the various levels of pack- aging protection for scpplies and equipment.) 5.1 Preservation and packaging. Preserva- tion and packaging shall be level A, B, or C, as specified (see 6.2). 5
12、.1.1 Level A. Except for chrome-plated blades, cleaning preservation, and pack- aging of all blades shall be in accordance with MIL-P-116, as applicable. Blades with chrome plating completely covering all sur- faces, and applied after sharpening of teeth, need not be coated with grease. Lacquered bl
13、ades shall not be cleaned. 5.1.1.1 Blades weighing less than 10 pounds. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or order (see 6.2), blades weighing less than 10 pounds shall be completely coat- ed with type P-1 preservative and individu- ally wrapped with greaseproof barrier-mate- rial conforming
14、 to type II, grade A, class 1 of MIL-B-121, and secured in place with pressure-sensitive tape conforming to type II, class 1 of PPP-T-60. The wrapped blades shall be individually packaged or, when spec- ified (see 6.2), packaged together in quan- tities not to exceed 6 blades in snug-fitting fiberbo
15、ard boxes conforming to PPP-B-636. Cellulosic cushioning material conforming to type III, class C of PPP-C-843 shall be pro- vided to prevent damage to the saw blade teeth and to the boxes. Boxes conforming to PPP-B-636 shall be closed and sealed in conformance with the appendix to the box specifica
16、tion, and, in addition, all joints and seams, including those occurring in the man- ufacture of the boxes, shall be covered with minimum 2-inch-wide pressure sensitive tape conforming to PPP-T-76, extended over all corners and edges at least 3 inches. Boxes conforming to PPP-B-636 shall be closed an
17、d sealed in accordance .with the appendix thereto. 5.1.1.1.1 Alternate methods. 5.1.1.1.1.1 When specified (see 6.2), the cleaned blades shall be dipped in a thin film of preservative oil and covered on both sides with a sheet of vapor-phase inhibitor paper in accordance with MIL-P-3420. Blades shal
18、l be separated with a layer of corrugated fiberboard to provide cushioning and protection and shall be unit protected by a suitable submethod IA in accordance with MIL-P-116. 5.1.1.1.1.2 When specified (see 6.2), blades after cleaning shall be unit protected by method IB-1 in accordance with MIL-P-
19、116. 5.1.1.2 Blades weighing 10 pounds and over. Blades weighing 10 pounds and over shall be completely coated with type P-1 preservative and individually wrapped with greaseproof barrier-material conforming to type II, grade A, class 1 of MIL-B-121, se- cured in place with pressure-sensitive tape c
20、onforming to type III, class 1 of PPP-T-60. The wrapped blade shall be secured by bolt- ing through the arbor hole to a single piece of 1/4-inch-thick plywood extending beyond the perimeter of the wrapped blade 1/4 inch. Each blade shall Ge packaged in snug-fitting fiberboard box conforming to PPP-B
21、-636, compliance symbol as applicable. Cellulosic cushioning material conforming to type III, class C of PPP-C-843 shall be provided with- in the boxes. The boxes shall be closed and sealed in conformance with the appendix to the box specification, and, in addition, dl joints and seams, including th
22、ose occurring in the manufacture of the boxes, shall be covered with minimum 2-inch-wide pressure- sensitive tape conforming to PPP-T-76, es- tended over all corners and edges at least 3 inches. 5.1.2 Level B. 24、f the blades shall be in accordance with the manufacturers commercial practice. Pack- aged quantities shall be as specified (see 6.2). 5.2 Packing. Packing shall be level A, B, or C, as specified (see 6.2). 5.2.1 Level A. Blades, preserved and packaged in accordance with level A or C, as specified (
25、see 6.2), shall be packed in overseas type, cleated plywood or nailed wood boxes conforming to PPP-B-601 (class 2), or PPP-B-621. Wood-type shipping con- tainers, other than those containing unit IA packages or unit containers conforming to PPP-B-636, shall be provided with a sealed waterproof case
26、liner conforming to MIEL 10547. The gross weight of wood and wood- type shipping containers shall not exceed 200 pounds. 5.2.2 Level B. Blades, preserved and pack- aged in accordance with level A or C as specified (see 6.2), shall be packed in do- mestic type wood-cleated fiberboard, wood- cleated p
27、lywood, nailed wood, wirebound wood boxes or overseas type corrugated or solid fiberboard boxes conforming to PPP- B-591, PPP-B-601, PPP-B-621, PPP-B-585, or PPP-B-636 (class 2), respectively. The gross weight of wood boxes and wood-cleated fiberboard boxes shall not exceed approxi- mately 200 pound
28、s; the gross weight of fi- berbowrd boxes shall not exceed the weight limitations of the applicable specification. 5.2.3 Level C. Blades, preserved and pack- aged in accordance with level A or C, as specified (see 6.2), shall be packed in a man- ner to insure carrier acceptance and safe de livery at
29、 destination. 5.3 Marking. 5.3.1 Militury agencies.
