3、 1. SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers the packaging, packing, material handling provision, and marking requirements of steel card size filing cabinets as covered by AA-F-00352 and hA-F-00367. 2. Materials used in thb packaging, packing, palletization, and marking of the filing cabinets shall be as specified herein and in the applicable specifications. 3.1.1
12、Fiberboard. The fiberboard packing material used herein shall conform to PPP-F-320, type CF, class domestic, variety DW. otherwise specif red herein. The minimum grade shall be 200 unless 3.1.2 Lumber. All lumber used in the construction of the base frame and the wood skid base herein shall conform
13、to MIL-CTD-731, class 2, group I, II, or III wood. 3.2 Packaginq. Packaging shall be level A, B or C as specified (see 6.2). 3.2.1 Levels A and B. 3.2.1.1 Each cabinet shall be wiped clean prior to packaging. Internal parts as removable trays, sliding compressors and drawer partitions that can come
14、loose in handling and transit shall be secured in place with tape, fiberboard forms or other suitable means. Alternatively the drawer partitions that are removed shall be overwrapped in nonabrasive material and securely taped in a drawer of the unit. Cellulose wadding strips or nonabrasive cushionin
15、g pads not leps than .125 inch thick shall be used on the top and side edges of each drawer fr?n+ to prevent metal-to-meta: contact when closed. When iocks are provided, the drTwers shall be closed, the unit locked, the keys placed : : a kraft paper envelope, E fabric draw- string bag or a bag made

17、red with a cushioning sheet of nonabrasive material, minimum thickness .O45 inch, The sheet shall extend down over the top edges of the cabinet a minimum of 2 inches and be secured by taping the four sides in place. A full length bag made of polyethylene film, minimum 1.25 mils thick, shall be used
18、to cover egch cabinet. Alternatively, the bas cover may be omitted when the inside face of the corner pads, as specified in 3.3.2.1.2,. are coated with a nonabrasive and nontransferable coating Such as Resist-O-Coat, Michalman or equal. 3.2.2 Level C. Each.cabinet shall be prepared for packing to. i
19、nsure adequate protection-t abrasion and damage during shipment. 3.3 Packinq. 3.3.1 kvel A. Packing shall be level A, 8, or Cf as specified (see 6.2). Each cabinet packaged as specified in 3.2.1 shall be packed in a tight-fitting box conYorming to PPP-B-601, overseas type, styles C or I; or PPP-B-63
20、6, grade VC, style RSC. The interior packing shall conform to 3.3.2.1 or 3.3.2.2. The box shall be closed and strapped or reinforced in accordance with the . appendix to the*box specification. accordance with 3.3.2.1 or 3.3.2.2 at the option of the supplier. 3.3.2 Level B. Each cabinet packaged as s
21、pecified in 3.2.1 shall be packed in 3.3.2.1 Method I. Each cabinet, packaged as specified in 3.2.1, shall be packed in a tight-fitting box conforming to PPP-B-636, style RSC or IC, type CF, class domestic, variety SW, grade 350 minimum except that the size and weight limitations are waived. The int
22、ernal packing shall include the components specified in. 3.3.2.1.1 through 1.3.2.1.3 inclusive. The box shall be closed in accordance with the appendix to PPP-B-636 (Ref. Figure A), 3.3.2.1.1 7t;ing pad. A spring pad extending the full inside length and width of the box (-1 8 + O ) shall be position
23、ed on top and bottom of each cabinet (ref. figure A). The spring pad shall be made from material as specified in 3.1.1. The fiberboard forming the spring pad shall have the corrugations parallel to the width of the box, be slit-scored and folded to provide a minimum clearance of one inch between the
24、 cabinet top and the inside box flaps, and the cabinet bottom and the wood base frame, The slit-scored folds shall be not less than 3 inches wide and shall paralel the length of the box. 3.3.2.1.2 Corner “L“ shaped corner pads extandin$ the full height of the cabinet shall -411 four. corners of the
25、pack (ref. figure A). pads shall be made from material ils Specified in 3.1.1. The fiberboard forming the pads shall be slit-scored and folded to provide a minimum incide face width of 2-1/2 inches and a clearance not less than 3/4 inch between the cabinet and the inside walls of the box for the two
26、 rear corner pads; and 3/4 inch and 1-3/4 inches to the sides and front respectively, for the two front corner pads. Alternatively, corner pads made from corrugated, laminated or molded fiberboard, shall be acceptable when the specified minimum dimensions are maintdned. 3.3.2.1.3 Base frame. A base
27、frame extending the full inside length and width of the box (-1/4“ + O“) shall be used in the bottom of each cabinet pack (ref. figure A). The base frame shall be made from lumber as specified in 3.1.3. The lumber, as a minimum, shall be nominal 1 x 4 inch. .The base frame shall consist of two top l
28、ength runners and two bottom cross :ir. merkzrs. The cross members shall be clinch- nailed with not less than two nails per jo. $. The corner 3.3.2.3. Method -11. Each cabinet packaged as specified in 3.2.1 shall be packed as specifi.id in 3.3.2.1, except that the base frame specified in 3.3.2.1.3,
29、shall be omitted and replaced with a bottom pad. The bottom pad, made from material as specified in 3.1.1 grade 275 minimum, shall extend the full inside length and width of the box (ref. figure B) . In addition, the spring pad as specified in 3.3.2.1.1 shall be minimum grade 275. 3.3.3 Level C. Eac
30、h cabinet, packaged as specified in 3.2.2, shall be individually packed in a box that will assure acceptance and safe delivery in com- pliance with National Motor Freight classification item 80250 or the. Cabinets packed as specified in 3.3.1 or 3.3.2 shall be shipped on wood runners or palletized in accordance with 3.4.1 or 3.4.2 respectively, when the requirem
32、ents of the box specification do not provide an entry under the bottom of the packed unit for material handling equipment, unless otherwise specified herein. 3.q.l Hood runners. Cabinets packed as specified in 3.3.1 or 3.3.2.1 shall have as a minimum two full dimensioned 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 inch rough cu
33、t softwood runners attached under each cabinet pack. The length of the wood runners shall be 1/4 inch less than the outside width dimension of the box. One, runner at each .end of the pack shall be nailed through the bottm of the box into the base framg with a minimum of four 3 inch screw shank nail
34、s spaced approximately 6 inches apart (ref. figure A). 3.4.2 Palletization Each cabinet packed as specified in 3.3.1, 3.3+2.1, or 3.3.2.2 shall be palletized on a wood skid base made from lumber as specified in 3.1.2. Thelengthsand width of the skid base shall be equal to the respective outside leng
35、th and width of the 1oad.and shall consist of two full length deckboards - 1 x 4 inch nominal lumber and two full dimensioned 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 inch rough cut cross tie members laid flat. The deckboards shall be clinched-nailed to the cross members with not less than two nails per joint. Each packed ca
36、binet shall be secured to the skid base with not less than two steel straps minimum 1/2“ x .020“ or 5/8“ x .015“. Each strap, placed 6 (+_ 1) inches in from each end of the container, shall be applied around the top, front and back of the cabinet and under the bottom side of the top dec:-.ooards of
37、the base skid. Edge protectors shall be used under the straps on the top edges of the container and the straps tensioned to prevent the packed cabinet from shifting on the skid ba e (ref. figure B) . In addition, a commercially available water resistant adhskve shall be applied to the deckbyrdt-o-f
38、the skid base prior to securing the packed cabinet on the base. .c 3.5 Markinp. Marking shall be in accordance with 3.5.1 or 3.5.2, as specified (see 6.2). 3.5.1 Civil agencies. Each shippinq container shall be marked in accordance with 3.5.2 Military activities. Each shipping container shall be mar

QUALITY ASSUR
42、ANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, .the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use his own o
43、r any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein , unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that su
44、pplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Material inspection. In accordance with 4.1 above, the supplier is responsible for insuring that the packaging and packing materials used are manu- factured, tested,.and inspected in accordance with the requirements of referenced subsidia
45、ry specifications and standards to the extent specified, or if none, in accordance with this specification. The supplier shall make available to the inspection team two sets of reference packing assembly drawings along with component packing part drawings to expedite the inspection. 4.2 Sampling for
46、 inspection and acceptance. Sampling for inspection and acceptance shall be performed in accordance with the provisions set forth in MIL-STD-105, except where otherwise indicated. 4.2.1 Inspection of preparation for deli-. An inspection shall be made to determine compliance with the requirements of
47、section 3. Defects shall be scored in accordancewith table I. prepared for delivery. The lot size shall be the number of shipping containers offered for acceptance at one time. The inspection level shall be S-4, with an AQL of 4.0 defects per hundred units. The-sample unit shall be one shipping cont
