GENERAL The road wheel castings must conform to the requirements of AS 1638, except where shown by this specification. This

3、 specification covers the material requirements for a heat-treatable Aluminium Alloy suitable for road wheel application. The material is similar to the AS 1874/AC601 (formerly known as CP 601) and its equivalent. After the appropriate heat treatment and baking of the subsequent finish coating, the

4、final material properties of the road wheels must conform to the mechanical properties shown in this specification for: TYPE 1: Heat treatable Aluminium Alloy suitable for Cast road wheel application. TYPE 2: As above with increased elongation at the inboard rim. Type 2 is recommended for wheels tha

5、t require a high resistance to impact loads. TYPE 3: Cast and Flowformed Rims. Type 3 uses mechanical processing (Flow forming) of inner rim before heat treatment to enhance the mechanical properties. 2. CHEMICAL COMPOSITION The road wheel castings furnished to this specification should conform to l

HEAT TREATMENT 3.1 Recommended Initial Heat Treatment of Road Wheel Castings Solution heat treatment temperature 530 - 545 C Time at temperature 5 hours

10、Minimum. Precipitation heat treatment temperature 125 - 140 C Time at temperature Maximum time at temperature to ensure that the properties detailed in section 4.0 are achieved. If the supplier deviates from the recommended heat treatment conditions, it must be shown that the process will achieve th

11、e mechanical properties specified. 3.2 Paint Finish Bake Time and Temperature When a paint finish is applied to the road wheel castings, the paint bake temperature shall not exceed a time and temperature that will be detrimental to the recommended mechanical properties. The above heat treatment and

12、paint bake conditions are considered to provide satisfactory mechanical properties for the road wheel castings. However, where the road wheel castings have been supplied with a heat treatment or paint bake process other than recommended, the supplier must demonstrate to the Central Laboratory that t

13、he alloy wheels will conform to the recommended mechanical properties. Wheels may only be repainted if repainted wheels were included and passed the validation testing (as per GM TWS Validation Guidelines). The maximum number of times a wheel can be repainted is once. 18、0 kgf. 4.1.1 Determining Minimum Mechanical Property Requirements for Flow Formed Wheels. All mechanical property testing to determine Type 3 minimum mechanical properties is to be performed in a laboratory accredited to ISO/IEC 17025. Tensile tests should be performed according to ASTM B557M or ISO

19、 6892. Mechanical property tests are to be performed on all wheels used for supplier responsible validation tests (e.g. fatigue, impact and paint tests as per TWS Validation Guidelines). Tensile specimens are to be taken from areas of the wheel rims that do not exhibit any deformation from previous

20、testing. The results will be used to determine the minimum mechanical property production limits at the inboard and outboard rims (as specified in section 4.1). A minimum of 25 rims are to be tested that have only been painted once (no repaint allowed). If repainting is requested then an additional

21、14 rims are to be tested.
