This material is essentially a s
5、table distillate fluid with corrosion protection properties for all season ship-away use. 2.0 INTRODUCTION This fuel provides long term corrosion protection and provides good low temperature starting. It is often used where storage of trucks are anticipated. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effect

AUGUST 2009 Page 3 of 4 7.1 Engineering Qualification Production material can be furnished under this specification only after formal Engineering Qualification. The appropriate purchasing
18、 department (refer to the Corporate Purchasing Delegation Manual) will request Materials Engineering, TDTC or a Materials Engineering designated facility, to conduct the engineering qualification tests with the supplier furnishing all required samples. Material submitted for qualification will be ac
19、companied by detailed test information and also by certification that the material meets all requirements of this specification. 7.2 After the material has been tested by Materials Engineering, the design engineering departments will be notified and, if appropriate, invited to conduct performance te
20、sts as deemed necessary. On completion of these tests, the purchasing departments involved and all engineering departments will be notified that the material has been either qualified or rejected. 7.3 Material subsequently supplied to this specification will have the same formulation as the qualific
21、ation samples. No change in composition or method of manufacture will be permitted without approval of the appropriate purchasing and design engineering departments and Materials Engineering. 8.0 METHODS OF TEST CEMS BT Methods are available from IHS Global Inc., 15 Inverness Way East, Englewood, CO
22、 80112-5776; Phone: 1-800-854-7179; website: 8.1 Total Contaminants Conduct this test according to ASTM D 2276, Appendix A-2 except: 8.1.1 Sample size will be one litre. 8.1.2 Vacuum will be maintained at 255 15mm (10 0.5 inches) mercury throughout the test. 8.1.3 The “flushing fluid” will be petro
23、leum ether having a boiling range of 30 to 60C. 8.1.4 Report the total contaminants and the time required to filter one litre of test fluid. 9.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 9.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to Navistar are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requiremen
24、ts. Navistar will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration cert
25、ificates to their Navistar Corporate Buyer upon request 9.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts of purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitte
26、d without approval. In the event that changes occur in material properties, processing practices, or labeling, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering at TDTC and Navistar Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). 29、Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910, shall be submitted with the request for change. 9.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of
30、the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific pro

APPENDIX GENERAL INFORMATION (NOT A REQUIREMENT) A.1 CHARACTERISTICS AND APPLICATIONS A.1.1 Special Corrosion Inhibited Diesel Fuel is satisfactory for use as a ship-away fuel. It is also used so diesel engines can be operated while purging the system of die
39、sel fuel used for operation in the plants such as movement of units to the paint shop, loading dock, etc. A.1.2 This fuel provides long term corrosion protection for the fuel system, is storage stable to insure protection against gum formation and plugging of the fuel system, and has good low temperature properties to insure starting and operation at low ambient temperatures to 30 C.
