Change Notice: Replaced “International Truck and Engine Corporation” with “Navistar, Inc.” per corporate directive. 1.0 SCOPE This is a method for evaluating the ability of the paint film to withstand water induced degradation in the incomplete stage of drying. 2.0 APPARATUS 2.1 Test

5、stand with clamping fixture capable of holding a quart container 2.2 Metal gallon or 4 liter container, at least 150 mm (6 inches) deep, the bottom of which is perforated with 45 - 1.6 mm (1/16 inch) diameter holes, equidistant from each other, arranged in circular fashion. 2.3 Timer 2.4 Thermometer

6、 3.0 MATERIAL 3.1 Bonderite CD-10 or Bonderite 958 zinc phosphated steel panels, 75 x 225 mm (3 x 9 inches), available from Advanced Coatings Technologies, 273 Industrial Drive, Hillsdale, Michigan 49242. 3.2 Water supply, sink 3.3 Absorbent paper, Kleenex, Kimwipes or equivalent 4.0 PROCEDURE 4.1 P

7、repare three panels according to the procedure specified in Test Method GT-13, Panel Preparation, Method F. 4.2 Age prepared panels for three hours in still air at 21 to 27C (70 to 80F). Note: For Grade -32W age the panels for 90 minutes: For Grade -32HS/Ur see GT-13 Method B 4.3 Arrange the contain

8、er under a faucet in such a way that the perforated bottom is 12 inches above the test panels. 4.4 Adjust the faucets to deliver 16 to 27C (60 to 80F) water into the container without overflowing, but maintaining at least 50 mm (2 inches) of water. 11、er the panels. Note: For Grade -32W Paint; the time for the exposure period is extended to 30 minutes. 4.6 At the end of this period, remove the panels and dry with absorbent paper. 4.7 Examine panels with unaided eye; any evidence of wrinkling, film wash-off or blistering will constitute a failure. 5.0 REPORT Report whether the paint passes or fails this test.
