5、g a temperature of 49 + 3C (120 + 5F) 2.2 Bath capable of maintaining a temperature of 38 + 3C (100 + 5F) 3.0 MATERIAL 3.1 Bonderite CD-10 or Bonderite 958 zinc phosphated galvanized steel panels, 100 x 300 mm (4 x 12 inches), available from Advanced Coatings Technologies, 273 Industrial Drive, Hill
6、sdale, Michigan 49242. or Fiber glass reinforced plastic (FRP) or Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) panels available from the substrate manufacturer or Materials Engineering, International Truck and Engine Corporation, P. O. Box 1109, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46801-1109. 3.2 Absorbent paper, Kleenex, Kimwipes

No. 610 or equivalent 4.0 PROCEDURE 4.1 Prepare the appropriate quantity of panels for the grade of primer being tested according to the procedure specified in Test Method GT-13, Panel Preparation. Proceed up to and including the

AUGUST 2009 Page 2 of 2 4.1.3 Four FRP or SMC panels - Grades -52, -52HS, and -52W For Grades -53 and -53A where four panels are prepared, two alternative drying procedures, in air dry and an oven dry, are specified. For this grade, two panels will be dried according to t
11、he air drying procedure and the remaining two panels will be dried according to the oven drying procedure. For grades where two panels are prepared, only one drying procedure is specified; for these grades, both panels will be dried according to this procedure. 4.2 Age the prepared panels for 72 hou
12、rs in a recirculating oven at 49 + 3C (120 + 5F), remove and cool to 21 to 27C (70 to 80F). 4.3 Place the panels in a water bath maintained at 38 + 3C (100 + 5F) for 24 hours, remove and dry with absorbent paper. 4.4 Allow the panels to recover for 4 hours in air at 21 to 27C (70 to 80F). 4.5 On eac
13、h panel, except those primed with Grades -52, -52HS, and -52W, crosshatch a minimum area of 645 sq mm (one square inch) into 1.6 mm (1/16 inch) squares by cutting through the paint film with a new razor blade. For Grades -52, -52HS, and -52W, crosshatch a minimum area of 645 sq mm (one square inch)
14、into 3.2 mm (1/8 inch) squares by cutting through the paint film with a new razor blade. 4.6 Press transparent cellophane tape firmly onto the crosshatched area of each of the panels, and then remove with a sharp upward motion in a direction of 90 degrees to the painted surface. 4.7 Examine each of
15、the panels with the unaided eye. Determine and record the percentage of the cross-hatched area on which the paint film has remained for each of the panels. 5.0 REPORT Report the minimum percentage adhesion observed from all of the panels tested. For Grades -52 and - 52HS, report separately the minimum percentage adhesion observed for both sanded and unsanded panels tested.
