5、 continuous elastomeric tape helically wound to overlap and underlay a hard drawn wire. These air duct products are used in heater, defroster and similar applications. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers general requirements, property and performance requirements, quality, identification, source app
6、roval and quality control. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified the latest issue of all referen

13、s shall be 0.25-0.33 mm (0.010-0.013 in) 4.4 Property And Performance Requirements Tests performed on 50 mm (2.0 in) duct 4.4.1 Burst Strength: ASTM D 751 Required: 138 kPa (20 psi) minimum 4.4.2 Vacuum Collapse: ASTM D 622 Required: Shall withstand 0.89 m (35 in) water vacuum with 2.5 mm (0.010 in)
14、 maximum collapse. 4.4.3 Crush Resistance Required: Shall withstand 1.46 kN/lineal meter (100 lbf/lineal foot) minimum. 4.4.4 Odor: There shall be no objectionable odor as judged by an appropriate jury after aging a 300mm section for 4 hours at 70C. To be evaluated hot. 4.4.5 Plasticizer Volatility
15、4.4.5.1 Method: Heat elastomer (no wire) for 5 hours at 104 C (220 F) in a forced convection oven. Cool in desiccator. 4.4.5.2 Required: No appreciable change in material pliability, and weight loss shall not exceed 2%. 4.5 Flammability Resistance Material and parts supplied to this specification sh
16、all conform to and be certified by the supplier to meet the requirements of the latest issue of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 302. 5.0 QUALITY All product supplied shall be clean and free from dirt, oils, sharp edges, or defects harmful to product performance. Finished duct shall be free
17、 from objectionable odor and be flexible and suitable for bending and forming. It shall be concentric, and wire coils shall be evenly spaced and bonded to the coated fabric cover. Coated cover shall be uniform in texture and color and free from pinholes, cuts, folds, and tears. 5.1 Qualification Mat

20、ing testing to this specification per TMS-9543. 5.1.2 The complete procedure used for preparing and curing materials for test, especially surface preparation (when appropriate) and condition of the test materials. 5.1.3 A complete description, including engineering prints and pictures of any non-sta
21、ndard test fixtures used. 5.1.4 Adhesive, substrate and any chemicals used for bonding where appropriate. 5.2 Submission The material test report shall be submitted to: Manager of Materials Engineering NAVISTAR, Inc. PO Box 1109 Fort Wayne, IN 46801 5.3 Approval A report from Navistar will be issued
22、 approving new materials to this specification. Formal approval is not granted until this report has been published and the new material is listed in this specification. However, the approval report may be used as authorization for usage of that approved material/process prior to a change to this sp
23、ecification. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Appr
24、oval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this spe
25、cification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the pro
26、duct are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering, and Purchasing and Logistics of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples (when the results are ambiguous and not easily described or photographed with sufficien
27、t resolution), and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-
28、16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determi
29、ne testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 31、tification shall be in accordance with Manufacturing Std. MS-D-13. 7.1 Identification Each hose shall be labeled or marked on the outer cover in a color contrasting to that of the hose color, in clearly legible block capital letters not less than 3 mm (1/8 inch) high, with the following minimum info
32、rmation in the order listed: (a) Vendor Code - A four-or-five-digit code assigned by Navistar to each vendor. Contact Corporate Technical Standards, TDTC, for assignment of codes. (b) Hose Type - Identification by hose type, as required. (c) Size - Nominal size, i.e., diameter in fractions of an inc
33、h or “dash“ sizes, as required. (d) Date Code - The six-digit date code, with first two digits (01-12) representing the month, second two digits (01-31) representing the day, and last two digits (86) representing the year, is the preferred method for date codes. Other methods of date code may be use
34、d by agreement between the purchaser and supplier. NOTE: In many cases, DOT, FMVSS, and/or SAE documents and specifications prescribe a specific marking identification procedure. Where identification requirements of this specification conflict with DOT, FMVSS, and/or SAE requirements, the DOT, FMVSS
35、, and/or SAE requirements shall prevail. 8.0 DESIGNATION ON DRAWINGS All new drawings shall specify duct style. Existing drawings referencing TMS-6003 without specifying a style shall be Style II construction. Use of Style III (thinner cover) must be approved by Materials Engineering at TDTC. Exampl
