4、specification covers six types of hose, with end-fittings, used in the air brake, engine oil, diesel fuel, transmission oil cooling, low-pressure power steering and coolant systems. Types I through IV and VI may be used in applications operating between -40 and 150C (-40 to 302F) which conform to th
5、e pressures and bend radii listed in Table 2. Type V may be used in systems operating between -53 to 232C (-65 to 450F) which conform to the pressures and bend radii listed in Table 2. Type V may also be used in applications requiring extra chemical resistance, such as engine oil recirculation lines
6、. RESTRICTIONS: Hose covered by this specification shall not be used in the following applications: High-pressure power steering, cab-lift, or hydraulic brake systems. Air brake jounce/articulating lines - see TMS-6036. Application in coolant systems is limited to customer demand option only. 2.0 SC
7、OPE This specification covers general requirements, property and performance requirements, identification, quality, packing and shipping and source approval and quality control requirements. 2.1 Restricted Chemical SubstancesEffective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this

15、se shall consist of a seamless tube of oil resistant rubber, reinforced with either a single wire braid covered by a textile braid or two textile braids separated by a wire braid. All braids shall be impregnated with a black oil and mildew resistant synthetic rubber compound. 4.1.2 Type II - This is
16、 the same as Type I hose except it is Parker 213 hose. It is used for customer demand options only. 4.1.3 Type III - This hose shall consist of a seamless tube of oil and hydraulic brake fluid resisting rubber reinforced with two textile braids separated by a wire braid. All braids shall be impregna
17、ted with an oil and mildew resistant synthetic rubber compound. 4.1.4 Type IV - This is the same as Type III hose except it is Aeroquip FC-350. It is used for customer demand options only. 4.1.5 Type V - This hose shall consist of a seamless smooth bore extrusion of Teflon meeting the requirements o
18、f Type III resin per ASTM D1457, except suitable additives (up of 2% max) are permissible. The reinforcement shall consist of a 300 series stainless steel wire braid of sufficient strength to insure the hose will meet requirements of this specification. 4.1.6 Type VI - This hose shall consist of a s
19、eamless tube of oil resistant rubber reinforced and covered with textile. 4.2 Fittings 4.2.1 Fittings on Types I, II, III and IV hoses shall comply with requirements of SAE J1402 and SAE J516. Fittings may be permanent (crimped) or reusable as indicated on the Engineering drawing and/or purchase ord
20、er. Reusable end fittings used in air brake applications shall have a brass or stainless steel inner, the outer nut and collar may be brass, stainless steel or zinc-coated steel. In some cases, the print may require the inner to be phosphate coated. Reusable end fittings used in fluid (non air) appl
21、ications may use a coated steel liner. Such applications are not interchangeable with air applications. 4.2.2 Type V and VI - Fittings are permanent (crimp). Reusable fittings are not recommended. Material requirements are the same as Types I through IV for air applications. Fittings shall comply wi
22、th SAE J516 except as indicated on the engineering drawing. 25、te - Fittings used on Types I/II hose are not interchangeable with fittings used on Type III/IV. 4.3 Dimensions And Tolerances All types shall comply with standards indicated in Table 1 and 3. See Table 5 for common tolerances. Types I thru IV and VI inside diameter and outside diameter shall be con
26、centric within the following limits: Size Concentricity - T.I.R.mm in Up to -8 Inclusive 0.5 0.020 Over -8 0.8 0.030 4.3.1 Concentricity shall be measured over the finished O.D. The readings shall be taken at 90 intervals around the hose and acceptance shall be based on the total variations of the r
27、eadings. Dimensional measurements shall be made at a minimum distance of 13 mm (0.50 in) from the cut ends of the hose. Type V shall meet the concentricity requirements of SAE 100R14 per SAE J 517. 4.4 Performance Requirements 4.4.1 Hose and Hose Assemblies Hose and hose assemblies furnished will me
28、et required tests per SAE J1402, SAE J517 and FMVSS-106 and any additional requirements of this specification or TMC Recommended Practice 307. Unless otherwise indicated, all tests shall be performed in accordance with ASTM D 380 or D 622. 4.4.1.1 Burst Pressure (Assemblies) Hose shall not burst or
29、indicate failure at a hydrostatic pressure below the minimum specified burst pressure in Table 4. The assemblies shall be brought to minimum burst pressure at a constant rate within a period of 15-30 seconds and then continue to failure at the same rate. 4.4.1.2 Proof Pressure Hose assemblies shall
30、not leak when proof pressure tested at the minimum pressure specified in Table 4. Hose assemblies shall be subjected to the required pressure for a period of 30-60 seconds. 4.4.1.3 Cold Flexibility Hose assemblies shall show no leakage or visible cracking after being exposed to a cold environment, b
31、ent over a mandrel, and proof pressure tested after returning to room temperature. The assemblies shall be subjected to -40C (-40F) for Types I, II, III, IV and VI; and -53 C (-65 F) for Type V, for 24 hours in a straight position. While still at the specified temperature, the sample shall be evenly
32、 and uniformly bent over a mandrel having a diameter equal to twice the specified minimum bend radius in Table 4. The mandrel shall be cooled to the specified test temperature. 35、 be used. 4.4.1.4 Burst Strength, Elevated Temperature 4.4.1.4.1 Method: Similar to room temperature burst, except media shall be an appropriate fluid such as: MIL-H-8446 Oronite Chemical #8200 Dow Chemical F-60 General Electric F-50 MIL-L-7807 ASTM Service Fluid 101 Dexron II 4.4.1.4.2 Procedure: T
36、he assembly, filled with the test fluid, shall be heat aged for 1 hour at 150 C (302 F), or at 232 C (450 F) for Type V (1-hour period doesnt include time for oven or assembly to reach required temperature). After aging, the assembly shall be pressurized to proof pressure for 2 minutes and then burs
37、t tested. Hot oil circulation is an acceptable alternative method to oven aging. 4.4.1.4.3 Required: There shall be no leakage, hose burst, or separation from the fittings at 80% of the minimum proof and burst pressures indicated in Table 4. 4.4.1.5 Vacuum - Types I, II, III, IV, and VI: Hose assemb
38、lies shall show no leakage or visible ply separation after bending to the indicated angle with minimum bend radius shown in Table 4 and subjected to the indicated vacuum pressure for 5 minutes. Assemblies shall be checked during test for maintenance of vacuum and be sectioned longitudinally after the test is completed for visual inspection. 4.4.1.6 Hot Oil Circulation 4.4.1.6.1 Method: Test per SAE J 1
40、019 High Temperature Circulation Test except the test period and fluid change interval to be 1500 25 hours and the hose shall then be bent around a mandrel having a radius equal to the minimum bend radius in Table 4, and then pressurized with air under water to 2.6 MPa (377 psi) for one minute. 4.4.

Minor air leakage around the end fittings or due to air entrapment in the braid shall be permitted. 4.4.1.7 Temperature Cycling 4.4.1.7.1 Method: Test per SAE J1019 Temperature Cycling Test exce
44、pt as indicated below. 4.4.1.7.2 Procedure: Obtain production fittings and/or clamps as appropriate. Assemble hoses and fittings as specified for a production assembly. Where applicable, each hose fitting shall have a sight hole drilled into the fitting at the point where the hose end bottoms out. E
45、ach assembly shall be at least 150mm (6 inches) long and there shall be at least 6 assemblies per coupling type based on hose nipples. For instance, crimp assemblies shall require only 6 sets per size as the nipple is constant regardless of terminal end configuration. But, clamped joints will requir
46、e six sets of each nipple/clamp combination since the nipple may change by connection. Weigh assemblies empty. Fill the assembly with the specified fluid and weigh. Assemble to an air manifold in a controllable environmental chamber. Pressurize assemblies to 340 kPa (50 psi) and temperature cycle as
47、 specified. For fitted hoses, the maximum temperature shall be 150oC. For clamped hoses, the maximum temperature shall be 125oC. 4.4.1.7.3 Required: No visible fluid leakage shall be permitted during the test. Minor air leakage around the end fittings or due to air entrapment in the braid shall be p
48、ermitted. Final weight measurements shall not have more than a 3% fluid weight loss. Assemblies shall pass a proof test without leakage. 4.4.1.8 Tensile Test - Assembly All hose assemblies shall withstand a minimum tensile force of 2.2 kN (500 lbf) without separation of the couplings or rupture of the hose. 4.4.1.9 Impulse Test4.4.1.9.1 Method Test per SAE J343 except as indicated below.
