2、and for the hearing impaired viewers, as well as, in the future, coded sound commentary for the visual impaired viewers and similar ancillary programme-related services; b) that teletext signals are inserted in the vertical interval of analogue television broadcast signals; c) that future digital br
3、oadcasts will carry ancillary data information within special data packets of the transmitted digital programme multiplex signal; d) that such ancillary data services thus provide important added value to television programmes, to the benefit of the television audience, and they are of great interes
4、t to broadcasters; e) that television programmes received in the home are often recorded on consumer video cassettes; f) that there is a large market for television programmes prerecorded on consumer video cassettes; g) that up to now, only special versions of consumer video cassette recorders allow
5、 the recording and replay of ancillary data information; h) that there will be new digital formats for consumer use in the future, recommends 1 that implementations of existing consumer digital recording formats provide consumer access to ancillary data space; 2 that ancillary data may include closed caption, teletext, metadata in TV programmes, and so forth. _ *This Recommendation should be brought to the attention of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D).
