Source ITU-T Recommendation J.168 was prepared by ITU-T Study Group 9 (2001-2004) and approved under the WTSA Resolution 1 procedure on 9 March 2001. ii ITU-T J.168 (03/2001) FOREWORD The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations specialized agency in the

8、field of telecommunications. The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) is a permanent organ of ITU. ITU-T is responsible for studying technical, operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommendations on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The

9、 World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the ITU-T study groups which, in turn, produce Recommendations on these topics. The approval of ITU-T Recommendations is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSA Resolution 1

10、. In some areas of information technology which fall within ITU-Ts purview, the necessary standards are prepared on a collaborative basis with ISO and IEC. NOTE In this Recommendation, the expression “Administration“ is used for conciseness to indicate both a telecommunication administration and a r

23、 defines the following terms: 3.1 cable modem: A cable modem is a layer-two termination device that terminates the customer end of the J.112 connection. 3.2 IPCablecom: An ITU-T project that includes an architecture and a series of Recommendations that enable the delivery of real time services (such

24、 as telephony) over the cable television networks using Cable Modems. 3.3 Management Information Base (MIB): the specification of information in a manner that allows standard access through a network management protocol. 3.4 MUST: The term “MUST“ or “MUST NOT“ is used as a convention in the present
