The ITU-T is responsible for studying technical, operating and tariff questions and issuing Recommen- dations

3、 on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a worldwide basis. The World Telecommunication Standardization Conference (WTSC), which meets every four years, establishes the topics for study by the ITU-T Study Groups which, in their turn, produce Recommendations on these topics. The ap

4、proval of Recommendations by the Members of the IT-T is covered by the procedure laid down in WTSC Resolution No. 1 (Helsinki, March 1-12, 1993). 28、-bit and 8-bit coded IT-T Telematic services and related to the text communication part of the Telematic services. The control functions contained in this Recommendation define the basic meanings which may be common in some (orall) of the Telematic services. The definitions of the control functions

29、are aligned to those in ISO/IEC 6429 and ISO/IEC 10538 where possible with the exception of some specific functions defined by particular services. This Recommendation specifies control functions to handle bi-directional texts in character-imaging devices. The bi-directional concept is an addition t

30、o the uni-directional device concept which was the base for the former ITU-T Recommendations I IS0 standards. 31、.53 94 = 4862591 0592944 936 = Recommendation T.53 CHARACTER CODED CONTROL FUNCTIONS FOR TELEMATIC SERVICES (Geneva, 1994) 1 Scope 1.1 General This Recommendation defines the character coded control functions and their coded representation for use in 7-bit and 8-bit codes, in use by IT-T Telematic s

32、ervices. The control functions contained in this Recommendation define the basic meanings which may be common in some (or ail) of the Telematic services. The definitions of the control functions are aligned to those in ISO/IEC 6429 and ISO/IEC 10538 where possible with the exception of some specific

33、 functions defined by particular services for their use. Where the control function definitions differ between those in particular existing Telematic services on the one hand, and those in this Recommendation on the other hand, then the definitions in the particular Telematic services should take pr

34、ecedence. For future development, Telematic services should use the control functions defined in this Recommendation. This Recommendation specifies control functions to handle bi-directional texts in character-imaging devices. The bi-directional concept is an addition to the uni-directional device c

35、oncept which was the base for the former IT-T Recommendations I IS0 Standards. That means that the control functions which were modified to meet the bi-directibnal requirements can be used for uni-directional devices, as before. 1.2 TheITU-T considering (a) services: the increasing interdependence o

36、f the various ITU-T character sets and coding schemes in various Telematic (b) services; the introduction of new facilities such as code conversion and interworking between various Telematic (cl the advantage of having relevant control functions and coding schemes compiled in one Recommendation: (4

37、set; that Recommendation T.50 specifies the International Reference Version (iRV) of the 7-bit coded character (e) sets for Telematic services; that Recommendations T.51 and T.52 define the Latin based, respectively the non-Latin based, coded character o that Recommendation.T.5 1 defines the code ex

38、tension mechanisms used in Telematic services: (g) that Recommendations T.61 and T. 101 define the character coding systems for Teletex and Videotex; (h) environments, that Recommendation T.416 defines the character content architecture in Open Document Architecture (ODA) (i) that Annex Dir.4 define

39、s an optional character mode of group 3 facsimile apparatus, provides the following Recommendation as a reference document, from which control functions should be derived for individual Telematic services. Recommendation T.53 (04) 1 1.3 Telematic services. This Recommendation specifies the character
