15、SP-51 ii FOREWORD The subject matter of this Standard Practice was formerly a part of MSS SP-42, Corrosion Resistant Cast Flanged Valves, Flanges and Flanged Fittings. MSS SP-42 now covers valves only. The 1978 revision of this Standard Practice was delayed beyond the normal review interval in consi

16、deration of extensive revisions being developed for SP-42. Following publication of the re-written SP-42-1978, in which the flange thickness for most sizes were made the same as those in ANSI B16.5 Class 150, it was determined that a commercial need remained for flanges and flanged fittings of reduc

17、ed weight, and that this standard should continue to serve that need. The committee decided, however, that pressure-temperature ratings should be reduced to limit pressure stresses to levels consistent with those applied in ANSI B16.5 Class 150 flanges. While pressure stresses are generally less sig

18、nificant than bolting and piping stresses in these flanges, the new ratings, in combination with the gasket selection recommended herein, serve to limit the assembly bolting loads required. It is intended that the reduction in ratings should substantially reduce the likelihood of misapplication of t

19、hese flanges and fittings. The 1982 and 1986 revisions of this Standard Practice were required to update the referenced standards list in Section 2. The 1991 revision of this Standard Practice was required to update the referenced standards list and delete the metric equivalents. The 1995 reaffirmed

20、 edition of this Standard Practice was required to update the referenced standards list and reaffirm the document. The 2000 revision of this Standard Practice was required to incorporate standard metric dimensions, include forged and plate materials for flanges, and update referenced standards. The

21、2003 revision of this Standard Practice was made to incorporate larger sizes of flanges and fittings (NPS 14, 16, 18, 20, and 24) to accommodate the needs of the user community. The 2007 revision of this Standard Practice was made to correct some dimensions and to update the referenced standards. Th

22、e 2012 revision of this Standard Practice was made to update the referenced standards (e.g., Section 7 and Annex A), clarify markings in Section 8.1(e), and various editorial and conforming changes. SCOPE 1.1 This Standard Practice establishes a series of cast austenitic stainless steel flanged fittings and austenitic stainless steel flanges of reduced weight with mating dimensions for assembly with ASME B16.5, Class 150 flanges, but identifie

26、d as Class 150LW (Light Weight) and limited to use at reduced pressure-temperature ratings. 2. STANDARD UNITS 2.1 The values stated in either (SI) metric units or U.S. customary units are to be regarded separately as the standard. Within the text, the inch units are shown in parentheses. The values

27、stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the Standard Practice. Class 150 (per ASME B16.5) and NPS are the standard descriptors for Pressure Class and Nomin

28、al Size for both metric and customary products covered under this Standard Practice. DN is shown only for reference purposes. Tables 3 and 4 show flange and fittings dimensional requirements in millimeters. Tables 5 and 6 show the dimensional requirements for inch dimensioned flanges and fittings. 3

29、. PRESSURE-TEMPERATURE RATINGS 3.1 Ratings for flanges and flanged fittings conforming to this Standard Practice are shown in Table 1. CF8 b) ASTM A351/A351M Gr. CF8M c) ASTM A351/A351M Gr. CF8C d) ASTM A351/A351M Gr. CF3 e) ASTM A351/A351M

31、Gr. CF3M f) ASTM A351/A351M Gr. CN7M 4.2 Flanges may also be made from forgings or plates (blind flanges only) conforming to the following specifications: a) ASTM A182/A182M Gr. DESIGN 5.1 Flanges shall be flat faced with serrated finish in accordance with MSS SP-6. 5.2 A flange assembly with a flange having a raised face is not recommended. The raised face of the mating

33、flange should be removed. 5.3 Flanges should be spot faced in conformance with MSS SP-9 or back faced, if necessary, to meet maximum tolerance on thickness through bolt holes. 5.3.1 Spot facing or back facing shall not reduce the thickness of a flange below the minimum specified in Table 3 or Table

34、5. 5.4 Pipe threads of threaded flanges shall conform to ASME B1.20.1. Threads shall be concentric with the axis of the flange and variations in alignment shall not exceed 1 mm within 200 mm (116in. per ft.). 5.4.1 Threads shall be countersunk a distance not less than one-half the pitch of the threa

35、d at an angle approximately 45 degrees with the axis of the thread, to provide easy entrance in assembly and for protection of the thread. The chamfer shall be concentric with the thread, and shall be included in measurements of thread length. 5.4.2 Variations in threading shall be limited to one tu

36、rn large or one turn small from the gauging notch when using working gauges. The reference point for gauging is the starting end of the fitting or flange, providing the chamfer does not exceed the major diameter of the internal thread. When a chamfer on the internal thread exceeds this limit, the re

37、ference point becomes the last thread scratch on the chamfer cone. 5.5 Flanged fitting dimensions shall be in conformance with Table 4 or Table 6. 5.5.1 Reducing fittings shall be designated as shown in Figure 1. 6. CAUTION: Since flanges conforming to this Standard Practice are reduced in thickness as compared with ASME B16.5 Class 150 flanges, proper flang

39、e joint assembly is critically important for satisfactory performance. Gaskets should be selected from ASME B16.5, Appendix B, Table B1, Group Number 1a. 8. MARKING 8.1 Products conforming to this Standard Practice shall be marked as shown in the following example: a) Manufacturers name or trademark

40、 AB Co. b) Class designation 150LW c) Material designation CF8 d) Melt identification 12345 e) Size (NPS, DN, or NPS/DN) 6 8.2 At the option of the manufacturer, products may be marked with the size in DN or NPS/DN. 9. TESTS 9.1 Flanged fittings shall be hydrostatic shell tested at 10.3 bar (150psig

41、). 9.2 Flanges are not required to be pressure tested.
