Foreword This report is an update to the 2010 reaffirmation of NACE Publication 1E100 and illustrates commonly used engineering symbols and graphi

10、c representations that are related to cathodic protection (CP). The purpose of this update is to accommodate electronic drafting technologies, including geographic information system (GIS) applications, for which the previous symbols were not easily utilized. This document provides uniform designati

11、ons for CP symbols and is intended to provide a straightforward reference forcommonly used symbols for engineers, designers, contractors, and other corrosion control personnel who use CP and is designed to assist in avoiding confusion pertaining to the intended location and types of CP facilities. T

12、his technical committee report was originally prepared by NACE International Task Group T-1E-14, “Engineering Symbols Related to Cathodic Protection,” a component of Unit Committee T-1E, “Cathodic Protection of Oilfield Equipment,” with input from Unit Committee T-10A, “Cathodic Protection.” This te

13、chnical committee report was reaffirmed in 2010 by Specific Technology Group (STG) 05, “Cathodic/Anodic Protection.” In an effort to address and incorporate the comments received during the 2010 reaffirmation process, Task Group (TG) 429 was formed to review the report and propose revisions. This re

14、port is issued under the auspices of STG 05. NACE technical committee reports are intended to convey technical information or state-of-the-art knowledge regarding corrosion. In many cases, they discuss specific applications of corrosion mitigation technology, whether considered successful or not. St

15、atements used to convey this information are factual and are provided to the reader as input and guidance for consideration when applying this technology in the future. However, these statements are not intended to be recommendations for general application of this technology, and must not be constr

NACE International 2 Introduction TG 429 was formed to revise the 2010 edition of NACE Publication 1E100, which provides engineering symbols related to CP that are commonly used in industry and disseminates this information for use

17、by those who have a need for these symbols. To aid in accomplishing this task, a survey was distributed in 2010 to members of NACE STG 05, “Cathodic/Anodic Protection,” and STG 35, “Pipelines, Tanks, and Well Casings.” The survey asked respondents to submit symbols related to CP currently in use by

18、their computer-aided drafting (CAD) personnel. The results of the survey were distributed to TG 429 committee members and were discussed at length at CORROSION 2011. The symbols included in this report are a result of the most common symbols used by the respondents and the decision of the TG 429 com

19、mittee members. This report presents a process of using symbols that provides a list of common standard symbols and how they might appear in normal practice. Process for Using These Symbols Symbols are used in multiple ways. They are sometimes placed on alignment sheets using mile posts or pipeline

20、stationing that provide a general location of the cathodic protection feature. They are also sometimes placed at the geographical location of the feature within CAD or GIS applications. It is not intended that the symbols, by themselves, provide complete information or description of the CP feature.

21、 Rather, they are intended to point to more complete and thorough company-specific descriptions and designs, such as polarity, size, specific types, etc. shall be covered by notes in the drawing. Users may enhance their symbols by color contrast or descriptor. See Appendix A for a sample drawing. Wh

22、en used in GIS applications, refer to NACE/PODS SP05071 for the format of metadata where applicable. NACE International 3 Symbols Related to Cathodic Protection Item Description Symbol Anodes Horizontal Multiple anodes, either impressed current or galvanic, with each placed parallel to the surface o

23、f the earth, connected by a header cable. (Refer to the symbols for “Galvanic Anode” and “Impressed Current Anode.”) Anodes Vertical Multiple anodes, either impressed current or galvanic, installed with each placed perpendicular to the surface of the earth, connected by a header cable. (Refer to the

24、 symbols for “Galvanic Anode” and “Impressed Current Anode.”) Cable Attachments Describes how wires or cables are connected to facilities to be cathodically protected or monitored for CP. Casing A section of pipe of larger diameter than the carrier pipe that provides protection to the carrier pipe f

25、rom external sources of stress and/or permits replacement of the pipe without excavating the covering. 27、Item Description Symbol Deep Anode Ground Bed One or more anodes installed vertically at a nominal depth of 15 m (50 ft) or more below the earths surface in a drilled hole for the purpose of supplying CP. Foreign Structure Any metallic structure that is not intended as a part of a system receiving C

28、P. Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (Source) Alternating current (AC) powered electrical equipment that provides direct current for impressed current CP system(s). Induced AC Grounding Electrode A linear mixed metal oxide or conductive polymeric cable type anode, bare metallic conductor, or cel

29、l (single/multiple anode or deep well) installed for the purpose of mitigating induced AC voltages and currents. Interference Bond An intentional metallic connection between metallic systems in contact with a common electrolyte designed to control electrical current interchange between the systems.

30、IR Drop Test Station An above- or below-ground appurtenance that provides for electrical connections to the pipeline or facility for the purpose of measuring line currents. Isolation Devices Devices that provide for electrical isolation of facilities. The electrical isolation is a condition of being

31、 electrically separated from other metallic structures or the environment. Junction Box A securable, weather-proof enclosure that houses CP device connections. Reference Electrode A permanent/stationary electrode with a constant open-circuit potential under similar conditions of measurement that is

32、used for measuring the relative potentials of other electrodes.
