It was designed to guide the end user in provi
12、ding in-service environmental conditions to the manufacturer so that the best available materials can be used for these conditions. The selection of the proper nonmetallic seal materials must start with an agreement between the user and the vendor determining exactly what is expected of the equipmen
13、t to be purchased. Chemical, thermal, and pressure conditions that exist in the environment must be outlined as completely as possible and discussed before this agreement is reached. This standard is intended to aid and formalize this outlining procedure. With the availability of this standard, thos
14、e involved in the selection of nonmetallic seal materials for oilfield applications can consider seal material options intelligently. This standard was originally prepared in 1991 by NACE Task Group T-1G-17, a component of Unit Committee T-1G, “Protective Coatings, Elastomers, and Other Nonmetallic
15、Materials for Oilfield Use.” It was reaffirmed in 1996 by T-1G and reaffirmed in 2003 and 2012 by Specific Technology Group (STG) 33, “Oil and Gas ProductionNonmetallics and Wear Coatings (Metallic).” This standard is published by NACE International under the auspices of STG 33.
