7、n the wind tunnel At least partof this eflect may be accounted for on the bask of thedeflection of the wing in torsion and the deflection of theaileron control system. For timple, 1 of wing twistvarying uniformly from the wing tip would reduce theapparent aileron tiectiveness by about 20 percent:The

8、 wing deflections experienced by the various air-planes, however, are unknown. The deflections that.occurred between the ailerons pnd the cockpit controlare Iikewise unknown. Inasniuch as aileron deflectionswere determined on the basis of the position of the cock-pit control, this fact would further

9、 tend to reduce theapparent aileron tiectiveness.
