5、 included in this specification are in the following Engineering Material Specifications: Steel Wire Springs MPAPS A-9 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers requirements for general purpose and miscellaneous grades of steel wire and wire rods and ropes used in the Companys products. Unless otherwise s

6、pecified, the appropriate ASTM Standards will apply to this specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in this specification. Quality System Standa

8、sition. 4.1 Wire Classification and Chemical Composition Steel wire and wire rods and ropes purchased to this specification will conform to the required analysis for the steel shown in Table I. The zinc coating can be applied by a hot dip or electrolytic process. Rope wire: stainless steel Types: 302, 304 or 316 A555 A368 Corrosion and/or he

13、at resistant wire used for rope fabrication. Special drawing may be required to satisfy special fatigue strength requirements. * Specific steel grade dependent upon flexibility and strength requirements of finished products. 4.2 Material Requirements Unless otherwise specified, materials supplied sh

14、all conform to the general requirements of ASTM A510, ASTM A752 or ASTM A555 as applicable. 4.3 Surface And Mechanical Requirements Steel wire and rope wire purchased to this specification will conform to the surface properties shown in Table II and the mechanical requirements of ASTM A853 and A1007

15、 respectively or A368 (Stainless Steel) or (See Appendix for typical mechanical properties). Wire shall have no appreciable cracks after being cold bent flat on itself and hammering down to a thickness of one diameter. bundling Wire shall withstand tight twisting on inself in rope-like strings. 18、traight piece. rope wire The surface shall not contain imperfections inconsistent with good commercial practice. No cracks shall be induced by wrapping the wire twice in a close helix about a mandrel three times the nominal diameter of the wire. If the wire is zinc coated, no zinc shall be removed b

19、y rubbing with bare fingers after the coated wire is wrapped twice in a close helix about a mandrel five times the nominal wire diameter. Tensile strength is dependent on grade, thus, specific properties should comply with requirements on drawings. 4.4 Dimensional Tolerances Wire purchased to this s

24、nc-coated, single strand), the dimensions and tolerances will be consistent with the latest issue of MIL-W6940. Stainless steel ropes will conform to ASTM A368. Dimensions and tolerances for individual wires and wire ropes are listed in Tables V and VI, respectively. See Appendix section on wire rop

For wire ropes, no strand splices or welded joints wi

28、ll be allowed in completed strands. No wire joints (e.g. welds) will be allowed in a 3-wire strand. In strands containing more than three wires, wire joints are not allowed to be more frequent than one weld in any 46 m (150 feet) of completed strand. For aircraft quality strands containing 19 or mor

29、e wires, joints will be well spaced and not less than 61 m (200 feet) apart. 4.6.2. Requirements for the strength, surface coating, and ending procedure for all ropes will be denoted on the design drawings. 5.0 QUALITY All product supplied shall be clean and free from dirt, oils sharp edges, or defe

30、cts harmful to product performance. The supplier should be capable of providing statistical evidence that the material has been produced within process control limits established by the supplier for this product and that the process is capable of meeting the requirements of this specification. 32、6.0 QUALIFICATION Engineering qualification of sources is required in advance of production shipments. Samples shall be accompanied by test data certifying that all requirements of the specification have been met. 6.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for products supplied to the requireme

33、nts of this specification will be established by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process control.* * Other characteristics

34、 for inclusion in the control plan may be specified on the engineering drawing and/or purchase order. * See NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard A-16 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System R

35、equirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registra

36、tion certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitt

37、ed without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating

38、 conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report result

39、s of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of

40、 the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 8.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13. Parts shall be packaged so as to avoid any damage in shipment detrimental to the

41、 appearance of the part.
