Requirements for steel wire not included in this specification are in the following Engineering Material Specifications: Steel Wire Springs MPAPS A-9 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers requirements
5、 for general purpose and miscellaneous grades of steel wire and wire rods and ropes used in the Companys products. Unless otherwise specified, the appropriate ASTM Standards will apply to this specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced stand
6、ards shall apply. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in this specification. 8、 the required analysis for the steel shown in Table I. 13、uired to satisfy special fatigue strength requirements. * Specific steel grade dependent upon flexibility and strength requirements of finished products. 4.2 Material Requirements Unless otherwise specified, materials supplied shall conform to the general requirements of ASTM A510, ASTM A752 ASTM A6
14、41 or ASTM A555 as applicable. 4.3 Surface And Mechanical Requirements 4.3.1 Steel wire and rope wire purchased to this specification will conform to the surface properties shown in Table II and the mechanical requirements of ASTM A853 and A1007 respectively or A368 (Stainless Steel). See Appendix f
15、or typical mechanical properties. 4.3.2 Zinc Coated steel wire will have the surface properties and mechanical requirements of ASTM A641. 17、or scratches which would make wire unsuitable for general use. Wire shall have no appreciable cracks after being cold bent flat on itself and hammering down to a thickness of one diameter. Alloy Steel Per ASTM A752 Zinc Coated Steel Temper (soft, medium or hard) and Coating Class may be specified, a
18、s per ASTM A641, in the call out. If no Coating Class is specified, minimum coating weight shall be 55g/m2 and the full surface shall be covered in zinc. rope wire The surface shall not contain imperfections inconsistent with good commercial practice. No cracks shall be induced by wrapping the wire
19、twice in a close helix about a mandrel three times the nominal diameter of the wire. If the wire is zinc coated, no zinc shall be removed by rubbing with bare fingers after the coated wire is wrapped twice in a close helix about a mandrel five times the nominal wire diameter. Tensile strength is dep
20、endent on grade, thus, specific properties should comply with requirements on drawings. 4.4 Dimensional Tolerances 4.4.1 Wire purchased to this specification will meet the appropriate dimensional tolerances shown in Tables III and IV. No wire joints (e.g. welds) will be allowed in a 3-wire strand. In strands containing more than three wires, wi
29、re joints are not allowed to be more frequent than one weld in any 46 m (150 feet) of completed strand. Requirements for the strength, surface coating, and
31、ending procedure for all ropes will be denoted on the design drawings. 5.0 QUALITY All product supplied shall be clean and free from dirt, oils sharp edges, or defects harmful to product performance. The supplier should be capable of providing statistical evidence that the material has been produced
32、 within process control limits established by the supplier for this product and that the process is capable of meeting the requirements of this specification. 6.0 QUALIFICATION Engineering qualification of sources is required in advance of production shipments. Samples shall be accompanied by test d
33、ata certifying that all requirements of the specification have been met. 6.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for products supplied to the requirements of this specification will be established by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the
34、following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process control.* * Other characteristics for inclusion in the control plan may be specified on the engineering drawing and/or purchase order. * See NAVISTAR Engineering Design Stand
35、ard A-16 7.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 7.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval
36、 Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 7.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specifi
37、cation shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product
38、 are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in
39、accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. OCTOBER 2016 Page 6 of 9 7.3 Process Control The supplier shall either, perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot h
41、aving been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 8.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shippi
42、ng and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Supplier Packing and Shipping Standard D-13. Parts shall be packaged so as to avoid any damage in shipment detrimental to the appearance of the part. 9.0 DESIGNATION ON DRAWINGS Specification of steel wire on drawings and purchase orders wil
43、l be by the size and type of wire. Any other necessary information, such as a particular steel grade or strength requirements of ropes or ended cables, will also be included.
