4、0 SCOPE This method covers a test procedure for determining the high temperature stability of extreme pressure gear lubricants. 2.0 APPARATUS 2.1 Balance with a sensitivity of 0.1 gram 2.2 400 milliliter beaker 2.3 Gravity oven, noncirculating 2.4 Saybolt viscometer and apparatus per ASTM D 88 3.0 P
5、ROCEDURE 3.1 Heat 200 grams of the lubricant in a 400 milliliter beaker for 100 hours at 300F (149C) in a gravity oven. 3.2 Determine Saybolt viscosity at 210F (99C). 3.3 Determine pentane insolubles per ASTM D 893, Procedure A 4.0 REPORT 4.1 The Saybolt viscosity increase or decrease at 210F (99C) in percent. 4.2 The evaporation loss in percent by weight. 4.3 Pentane insolubles.
