7、 castings purchased to this specification will meet the requirements of chemical composition shown in Table I. 3.2 Mechanical Properties Copper-base alloys purchased to this specification will conform to the requirements shown in Table II. 3.2.1 The tensile data given in Table II represents the mini
8、mum requirements for test coupons and specimens prepared in accordance with standard procedures. These properties are not necessarily the same as the corresponding properties of the casting because of the effect of varying size, section and design. 14、rcent, max. * In determining copper minimum, copper may be calculated as copper and nickel. 3.2.2 When the strength of a casting is critical, the purchaser and supplier will agree on the minimum tensile properties acceptable in a critical location of the casting. Specimens will be machined from the
15、critical section to check these requirements. 4.0 QUALITY Castings will conform to drawings within commercial standards or to the patterns supplied by the purchaser. The castings will be free from blowholes, porosity, hard spots, shrinkage defects, cracks or other injurious defects. Castings will be
16、 cleared of all extraneous cast-on parts; the surfaces will be free from burned-on sand and will be reasonably smooth. Repair welding will be permitted only by agreement between purchaser and supplier. Welded castings will be free from excessive stresses, warping or hard spots in or near the weld. 5
17、.0 METHODS OF TEST 5.1 Chemical Test Samples for checking conformity to Table I, will be taken by drilling or cutting the test coupon or sprue, or the casting in case of purchasers quality control checks, in such a manner as to be representative of the entire cross section. 5.2 Mechanical Tests Unle
18、ss otherwise agreed, the test coupons and specimens for tension tests will be prepared in accordance with ASTM B 208. 25、 System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of
26、 registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. DECEMBER 2014 Page 4 of 5 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing pr
28、actices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). T
29、est data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perfor
30、m and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality
31、 control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING AND HANDLING Shipping and identification shall be in accordance with NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13. Parts shall be packaged so as to avoid any damage in shipment
32、 detrimental to the appearance of the part. 8.0 DESIGNATION ON DRAWINGS Material designation on drawings and purchase orders will include the alloy designation and type of casting. Unless otherwise specified, the material will be supplied as a sand casting. Examples: C93700, continuous cast, MPAPS C
33、-2 C95300, heat treated, MPAPS C-2 8.1 Identification Of Castings Castings will be identified with the following information: 8.1.1 NAVISTAR part number 8.1.2 Trademark shown in Engineering Procedural Standard EPS-143 (copies available from NAVISTAR Corporate Standards, 2601 Navistar Dr., Lisle, IL
34、60532) 8.1.3 Identification mark of the producing foundry. 8.2 The location of the identification may be shown on the drawing, but if not specified, will be selected so that the markings will not interfere with machining or service use. 8.3 These requirements of identification may be waived at the d

GENERAL INFORMATION (Not a Requirement) A.1 CHARACTERISTICS AND APPLICATIONS UNS No. Characteristics and Applications C83600 leaded red brass A general utility alloy with reasonable strength and corrosion resistance, good casting and machining properties. Typical uses: Architectural ap
42、plications, bearings, fixtures, piston rings, pump bodies, hydraulic and steam valves. This is a suitable bearing material for low speeds and loads. For use as a bearing material, see CEMS C-5. C85400 leaded yellow brass Inexpensive, good machinability and castability. Typical applications: Parts an
43、d fittings for radiators and other water cooling systems. C86300 high strength manganese bronze The following manganese bronze alloys consist of copper, manganese and iron. They are intended for use in castings where high strength and toughness are desired. These materials do not possess the same de
44、gree of corrosion resistance or bearing qualities as the aluminum bronzes. For use as a bearing material, see CEMS C-5. A higher cost alloy than C86500 but with considerably greater mechanical properties. Also has corrosion resistance and good casting properties and is used for similar applications
45、as C86500. C86500 manganese bronze Possess excellent corrosion resistant and casting properties. In certain cases can be used as a suitable substitute for malleable iron. Typical applications: Brackets, shafts, gears and structural parts. C90500 gun metal The following alloys are all of a family of
46、tin bronzes which have the general characteristics of being hard, strong, tough, wear resistant (especially with phosphorus), fairly machinable (with lead) and resistant to salt water corrosion. Has highest hardness of the standard commercial tin bronzes. Similar to C92200 with the exception of the
47、higher tin content which increases tensile strength and wear resistance C90700 phosphor gear bronze Similar to C90500 but with increased toughness and wear resistance, which permit use in gears and worm wheels where the requirements are severe.
