Change Notice: Released as MPAPS, editorial changes 1.0 APPLICATION This specification is applicable to all clinch type studs and nuts whose engineering drawings reference this specification for assembly and/or testing procedures and/or KCC requirements. 2.0 SCOP

5、E This specification covers the assembly and testing procedures for clinch studs and nuts. A quality plan and KCC values are included. Minimum values for the push-out force and unsupported torsional resistance for specific parts are shown on the engineering drawing for each NAVISTAR part number. 2.1

6、 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. 7、he following specifications, standards, and regulations are referenced in this specification: Quality System Standard ISO 9001 or TS-16949 CFR Title 29, Part 1910 NAVISTAR Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13 MPAPS B-50 NAVISTAR Eng. Design Standard A-16 4.0 REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Assembly Procedure Proper asse

8、mbly of clinch type studs and nuts requires a lower backing die to support the workpiece and insure that the stud or nut is straight and centered in the hole. The upper insertion die or punch must be aligned perpendicular to the workpiece and centered over the hole and lower backing die. When the st

9、aking force is applied to the upper punch or insertion tool/die, the direction of the force should be perpendicular to the workpiece and lower backing die. The upper punch/die must be of a size to fully cover the clinch type nut or stud. The assembly procedure is tested and verified by the performan

10、ce of torsional and push out tests. The clinch stud or nut is twisted off (torsional test) or pushed out of the workpiece. APRIL 2016 Page 2 of 6 4.1.1 Example An example of a clinch nut-installation tool is shown in Figure 1. Examples of test fixtures for the performance of the

12、unsupported torsional load test and the push-out tests for studs and nuts are shown in Figures 2 through 5. 13、s combination shall be tested to verify the installation tooling and assembly procedure for that part number and material thickness combination. Sufficient testing shall be performed to fully define and establish control limits for those process parameters affecting the performance/strength of the c

14、linch joint. Periodic testing during each production run shall be performed as required to demonstrate that the assembly process is both in-control and capable. Insertion Punch or Die. APRIL 2016 Page 3 of 6 4.2.1 Unsupported Torsional Tests The clinch type stud or nut and plate assembly is secured and a fixture capab

17、le of applying a torsional load to the nut or stud is attached. Torque is applied perpendicular to the axis of the nut or stud until the part spins loose in the workpiece. APRIL 2016 Page 4 of 6 4.2.2 Push-Out Test The clinch type stud or nut and plate assembly is secured in a support fixtu

20、re which allows the stud or nut to be pushed out of the plate. The push-out force is applied directly to the top of the stud. The push-out force is applied to the nut through its internal threads by applying the force to the top of a bolt of the appropriate thread type and size. Fracture should occu

23、be delivered to NAVISTAR facilities in a clean and dry condition ready for use without further conditioning or cleaning. 5.1 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for this product will be established by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Each clinch type stud and nut part numb

24、er, material, and material thickness combination shall be included in the control plan. The following items, where applicable,* will be included in the control plan as features for management by statistical process control.* 1. Push-Out Force 2. 25、ion in the control plan may be specified on the engineering drawing and/or purchase order. * See NAVISTAR Engineering Design Standard A-16. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirement

26、s. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certi

27、ficates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without

28、 approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify NAVISTAR Fastener Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformanc

29、e to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests

30、on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality

31、 control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Shipping, packing and identification shall be in accordance with Manufacturing Std. MS-D-13. 8.0 DESIGNATION ON DRAWINGS The drawing will utili

32、ze the KCC symbol with a note: “Completed assemblies will comply with requirements of MPAPS FT-9548”.
