4、ification covers the requirements for raw material, heat treatment, microstructure, torsional performance, static balancing, quality and source approval for two types of parts. Type I - Parts are Quench and Temper Hardened Only Type II - Parts are Quench and Temper Hardened then Selectively Inductio
5、n Hardened 2.1 Restricted Chemical SubstancesEffective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified the latest issue of all referenced standards sha

7、rth, basic oxygen or electric furnace, ingot cast, or strand cast steel may be used. A minimum reduction ratio of 6:1 is required for the strand cast steel. Unless otherwise specified, the general requirements for steel as described in ASTM A 29 shall be applicable. Steel supplied shall be fully kil
8、led, made to fine grain practice, and shall meet the Steel Cleanliness requirements shown in Table I as per ASTM E 45, Method A. 11、 J403. The bar shall be free of cracks and seams as determined by magnetic particle inspection. The steel shall be fine grained (ASTM grain size 5-8) and have hardenability in DI range of 2.5-2.9. 4.1.2 Forging Material The forgings shall exhibit uniform grain distribution with grain size not larger
12、 than ASTM grain size 5. They may be normalized to obtain the desired grain size. Prior to going into production, the forging grain flow shall be checked at the plane of parting line. The grain flow shall be uninterrupted and shall not show reversal of flow lines and kinks. If at any time there is a
13、ny change in forging dies or forging process, the grain flow shall be verified against the originally approved grain flow. Forgings shall be free from quench cracks, seams, laps or other defects detrimental to the performance of the parts. Forgings shall be shot cleaned and machined into finished pa
14、rts. 4.2 Heat TreatmentType I: Parts shall be quenched and tempered to a Brinell surface hardness of 229-269 HBW. Hardness at the mid-radius shall not be below 200 HBW. Parts shall be inspected by magnetic particle test method to ensure absence of quench cracks and other defects. Type II: Parts shal
15、l be induction hardened and tempered at 150C (300F) minimum in the areas designated on the engineering drawings. The hardness at the induction hardened surface shall be in the range 50-58 HRC. The expected induction hardening pattern is shown in Figure 1, which also shows the effective case depth me
16、asured to Rockwell 45 HRC at various locations in the induction hardened zone. 4.3 Microstructure Type I: The forged surface microstructure (decarburization removed) shall consist of 90% minimum tempered martensite. The total decarburization measured per SAE J 419 shall not exceed 0.25 mm (0.010 in)
17、. Total plus partial decarburization shall not exceed 0.64 mm (0.025 in). Type II: The induction hardened surface microstructure shall consist of 95% minimum martensite. There shall be no excessive grain coarsening from induction hardening. Intergranular oxidation shall not exceed 0.05 mm (0.002 in.
18、). The microstructure of the forged surface will be the same as Type I. Corporate Technical Standards. Testing shall be performed w
20、ith parts assembled to the corresponding mating driveshaft components. One end of the assembly shall be held/fastened rigidly to the appropriate fixture plate and the torsional load applied through an electro-hydraulic load simulator having torque and displacement meters and servo valve. The maximum static unbalance limits shall not exceed 360 grams-mm (0.5 ounces-inch) for flanges and 720 grams-mm (1.0 ounces-in) for yokes. Th
23、e desired balancing may be achieved by removing material by drilling some areas of the parts. Care must be taken to avoid drilling in the high stress areas. 4.6 Marking Unless otherwise specified on the drawing, marking shall be easily legible, positioned so as not to be removable by subsequent proc
24、essing, and shall consist of: Producers trademark Production date 4.7 Coatings If needed, the paint finish shall be called out on the engineering drawings. 5.0 QUALITY Surfaces of the parts shall exhibit no visual evidence of significant discontinuities such as laps, scale, scabs, slivers, tool mark
25、s or gouges. The maximum depth of allowable surface imperfection is 0.15 mm (0.006 in.). The parts shall be free from cracks, deep pits, or other defects which might affect part durability. Supplier shall perform suitable techniques to guarantee that material is free from internal defects which coul
26、d be detrimental to fatigue performance. A quality control plan for this product will be established by mutual agreement between International and the supplier. Corporate Technical Standards. 28、ernational Truck and Engine are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. International will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must ma
29、intain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their International Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those sa
30、mples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Truck Develop
31、ment and Technology Center and International Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, P
32、art 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process ControlThe supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistica
33、l control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using International plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING, AND IDENTIFICATION
