Note: Mechanical
、properties and microstructure shall be determined on suitably identified castings poured last in each heat lot. TITLE: REVISION: Nodular Iron, Pitman Arms c-1 4.3 Oualitv The casting must be crack free (after the peening operation used to fasten the drag link ball stud into the casting), as determin
、ed by 100% inspection using dye penetrant, magnaflux, or other NDT technique. 4.3.1 The as-cast surfaces shall be shot-cleaned and free from cracks, porosity, cold shuts, scabs, and other defects which might affect the fatigue strength of the arm. The machined surfaces shall be free from all defects
、. 4.3.2 The overall internal quality of the casting shall be sound and contain no gross or concentrated gas or shrinkage porosity. At the critical locations designated on the part drawing, there shall be no porosity or other defects, as revealed by radiography or other methods, larger than 1.5 mm (U
、16 in) in diameter and no more frequent than one per 320 mm2 (0.5 in2) area. This specification does not imply that radiography inspection is required, but rather that a particular level of quality is expected and should be controlled by the vendor. 4.3.3 Critical castings or areas of castings subje
、ct to more restrictive radiographic, magnetic particle, ultrasonic or other test requirements shall be specified on the part drawing. 4.3.4 Certification for soundness must accompany first pieces of new castings submitted for dimensional approval. Any changes in casting manufacturing procedure which
、 may affect the soundness of approved castings must be confirmed by suitable means and certification submitted with first pieces. 4.3.5 All quality control and related test records shall be maintained for a minimum of five years and shall be subject to review by International personnel. 5.0 OUALITY
、All product supplied shall be clean and free from dirt, oils, sharp edges, or defects harmful to product performance. 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND OUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements Suppliers must conform to the requirements of the INTERNATIONAL IQR Standard which includes conformance to the QS-90
