4、Keywords: Energy absorbing foam, Impact 1.0 APPLICATION This specification covers requirements for a molded energy absorbing impact foam used with bumper fascia application on Navistar trucks. 1.1 Type I This material consists of a rigid polyisocyanate (polyurethane) foam. (Additional types of energ

5、y absorbing foam may be added at a later date.) 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the general durability, performance, design, quality, quality control, shipping and identification and source approval requirements for energy absorbing impact foam. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective JANUA

6、RY 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of CEMS B-50. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. 8、uirements of the latest issue of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 302. DECEMBER 2010 Page 2 of 4 4.2 Manufacture The polyisocyanate foam is a polyurethane modified cellular plastic and shall be processed as a rigid foam in bulk form for fabrication into molded parts. 4.3 Description This product is manuf

10、actured as a high performing energy/impact absorbing rigid foam to be used behind the bumper fascia application on Navistar trucks. Product may come with or without adhesive for mounting. If a release liner is used with adhesive, the paper shall release easily and cleanly from the foam. 4.4 Color Sh

13、ection 42 4.6.2 Required Type I - 10% 4.7 Chemical Resistance 4.7.1 Method: CEMS DT-12, Method A for Interior Parts and Method B for Exterior Parts (AATCC, Test Method 8) 4.7.2 Required: Minimum score of 3 using an AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale or Gray Scale for Staining. Specimens will not dis

14、solve, delaminate or exhibit other objectionable characteristics. 4.8 Pressure Sensitive Adhesives Generally, adhesives supplied to this specification only need to adhere until assembly is complete. In those cases where better, more durable performance is required, then the adhesive shall meet TMS-6

15、929. In both cases the adhesive needs to survive the environment the impact foam is intended for without causing any detrimental effects to the performance of the impact foam. 17、arts supplied to this specification shall conform to and be certified by the suppliers to meet the requirements of the latest issue of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 571.302 - Flammability of Interior Materials. 5.0 QUALITY All product supplied shall be clean and free from dirt, oils, sha

18、rp edges or defects harmful to product performance. 5.1 Qualification Material and processes submitted for approval to this specification shall include the following: 5.1.1 Report: A detailed and signed test report documenting testing to this specification prepared as per TMS-9543. The report will i

19、nclude actual test data, not merely test summaries. 5.1.2 Failure Modes: Test samples or photographs showing failure modes for each destructive test as necessary to fully describe those failure modes. Descriptions are adequate if the mode is easily understandable (no jargon) and not unexpected. Unex

20、pected failure modes shall be described or pictured as completely as possible. 5.1.3 Analysis: A detailed analysis of the test results including assumptions made, unexpected results, and an explanation of any non-compliant results. 5.2 Submission The material test report shall be submitted to: Manag

PO Box 1109 Fort Wayne, IN 46801 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accep

22、t TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate

23、Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event tha

24、t changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this speci

25、fication, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 27、ts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the

28、 using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Loading, packing, and identification shall be in accordance with Manufacturing Std.
