This specification covers both joints pre-bonded by suppliers and those bonded in the factor
5、y. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the material properties, performance requirements, production quality and process control, suppliers responsibility, source approval and quality control, and sources for the approved adhesive systems. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007

8、L REQUIREMENTS Adhesive materials supplied to this specification shall bond the intended substrates to produce a permanent bond. The general properties of as-received materials are listed in Table 3. Adhesive materials supplied to this specification shall be compatible with current production materi
9、als and processes for which the new adhesive approval is sought, including resistance to plasticizer migration. It is the responsibility of the adhesive supplier to insure compatibility of the new adhesive materials with the Assembly Plants product materials and processes and obtain approval from th
10、e Production Process Manager of the assembly plant for the use of new adhesive materials. 13、samples shall be prepared for each condition tested. The surface condition tested shall be representative of production conditions and fully described in the test report. The type and geometry of the wood joint should be clearly recorded and documented in the test report. The samples will measure 3
14、in wide if greater than or equal to in thick, and 2 in wide if thickness is less than in. The final length of the sample before testing will be 2 in plus 24 times the thickness of the sample being tested with the joint located in the middle of the specimen. Samples should be conditioned for 72 hours
15、 after preparation in ambient room temperature and humidity before testing. The test sample geometry may vary as necessary for each test to conform to the specified test method, but any deviations are to be stated in the final report. The test sample geometry, including joint type, must be fully des
16、cribed and documented in the Qualification Report (see Section 5.0). The adhesive application conditions (applied pressure, dwell time, and temperature) should match production conditions as closely as possible and will be fully described in the Qualification Report. The failure mode and failure loa
17、d for each sample will be reported and data summaries, including average values and standard deviations for each test, will be included in the Qualification Report. Any discarded test result must be noted and reasons for discarding the result fully explained in the report. 4.3 Property And Performan
18、ce Requirements 4.3.1 Three Point Bend Test 4.3.1.1 Method: ASTM D 1037. The joint should be located at the center of the sample. The sample should overhand each end support contact by 1 in on each side and the joint should be centered on the load imparting contact. The sample length and the loading
19、 speed are dependent upon the thickness of the material and are listed in Table 1. 4.3.1.2 Required: See Table 2. 22、ry Cyclic Aging 4.3.4.1 Method: ASTM D 1183. Prepare samples for bend test as directed in 4.2 Sample Preparation. Test after the environmental conditioning periods listed below, allowing samples to return to ambient room temperature for 24 hours prior to testing as directed in 4.3.1. The aging cycle
23、 shall be completed 3 times as follows: 4.3.4.1.1 48 hours at 71 C ( 3) and less than 10% Relative Humidity 4.3.4.1.2 48 hours submerged in 23 C ( 1) water bath 4.3.4.1.3 8 hours at -31 C ( 3) and 100% Relative Humidity 4.3.4.1.4 64 hours at 38.5 C ( 2) and 100% Relative Humidity 4.3.4.2 Required: S
24、ee Table 2. Report failure mode. 4.3.5 Delaminating Cycle Test 4.3.5.1 Method: ASTM D 1101 Test Method A. Prepare samples for bend test as directed in 4.2 Sample Preparation. The samples will be conditioned 3 times with the following cycle: 4.3.5.1.1 5 minutes submerged in water at 18-27 C and betwe
25、en 10-12 psi vacuum. 4.3.5.1.2 1 hour submerged in water at 18-27 C and at pressurized at 75 psi. 4.3.5.1.3 5 minutes submerged in water at 18-27 C and between 10-12 psi vacuum. 4.3.5.1.4 1 hour submerged in water at 18-27 C and at pressurized at 75 psi. 4.3.5.1.5 21 50 minutes at 64-67 C at ambient
26、 pressure and less than 15% Relative Humidity to dry. 4.3.4.2 Required: After completion of all test cycles, there should be no delamination of the adhesive from the wood joint. 5.0 QUALITY 5.1 Qualification Material and processes submitted for approval to this specification shall include the follow
27、ing: 5.1.1. Report: A detailed, signed test report documenting testing to this specification per TMS-9543. The report will include actual test data, not merely test summaries. 5.1.2 Failure Modes: Test coupons or photographs showing failure modes for each test. 5.1.3 Test Procedure: The complete pro
28、cedure used for preparing and curing materials for test, especially surface preparation and condition of the test coupons. Include any adhesive, substrate and chemicals used for bonding. 5.1.4 Analysis: A detailed analysis of the test results including assumptions made, unexpected results, and an ex
29、planation of any non-compliant results. 5.2 Submission The material test report shall be submitted to: Manager of Materials Engineering Materials Engineering and Technology Navistar, Inc. 30、pecification. Approval is not formally granted until this report has been published. A change to this Specification listing the new approval may be delayed. 32、ROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVISTAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation
33、 and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equival
34、ent in all respects to those samples which were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supp
35、lier shall notify Materials Engineering, Truck Development and Technology Center, and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (
36、MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and/or report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot
37、having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the plant metallurgist and/or the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7
38、.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Loading, packing and identification shall be in accordance with Manufacturing Std. MS-D-13. 8.0 DESIGNATION ON DRAWINGS 8.1 Bonded Assemblies: The drawing designation may be written in a general or specific manner depending on the requirements of the situation
39、. Example: “Bond per TMS 6933” 8.2 Drawing Call-out: A specific material may be specified on a part drawing for the purpose of purchasing that material.
