SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 1.1 Design and construction. The gloves shall be manufactured from jersey or interlock knit fabri
2、c, 100% cotton, back side lightly napped, natural color, constructed from a two piece cut and sew process, coated with a two part poly vinyl dip. All seams shall be to the inside of the glove. Seam allowances shall be 1/8 inch minimum. The base dip shall impart a smooth finish. The final dip shall c
3、ontain particles of powdered vinyl resin and shall impart a roughened texture, The color of the finished glove shall be black. 1.1.1 Type I. The Type I glove has a grown-on gauntlet. The base dip shall impart a smooth finish the complete length of the glove. The final dip shall extend up from the fi
4、ngertips to 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches above thumb crotch. 1.1.2 Type II. The Type II glove has a wristlet, made of a tubular knit, The base dip shall impart a smooth finish to approximately 1 1/2 inches above wristlet seam. The final dip shall extend up from the fingertips to 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches above

The patterns for cutting the gloves shall. be furnished by the contractor, and shall be of the proper proportions to
10、 provide gloves conforming to the finished measurements specified in 1.3. 1.5 Pairing. The gloves shall be paired by any commercially accepted method. 1.6 Labeling. 1.6.1 Contract #, NSN, and size label. In addition to any commercial markings, each glove shall be legibly stamped with the size (Type

13、trations of acids and other chemicals is required. It is not to be used for electrical work, CBR protection, or for rocket fuel operations. For added protection against cold/wet conditions, use a wool liner insert. To prolong life of the gloves, rinse with water or wash with soap solution, especiall

15、 Other manufacturers may submit their styles to the procuring activity for evaluation by the Specification Preparing Activity and ultimate inclusion in this document if approved. 1.7 Workmanship. The gloves shall be uniform in quality and shall be free from irregularities or defects which adversely
16、affect performance, reliability, or durability. 1.8 Product demonstration model. During the solicitation phase, interested firms (including the manufacturer of the above approved styles) shall provide the Procuring Agency with four product demonstration models (two pairs) of the item they propose to
17、 furnish for evaluation. Two samples shall be used for performance testing. The remaining two samples provided by the successful offerer shall be tagged and sealed. One shall be retained by the Procuring Agency and the other furnished the assigned Quality Assurance Representative for use as a refere
18、nce in performing the examination in paragraph 2.2 and the scoring of defects in design, material and workmanship not otherwise classified herein. 2. QUALITY ASSURANCE 2.1 Certification. When requested by the Contracting Officer, the contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating evidence, th
19、at the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first
20、 delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 2.2 Examination of the fabric support shell. Examination of the completely assembled knit fabric support shells shall be made prior to dipping. The defects found shall be classified as below. The sample u
21、nit shall be one support shell. The lot size shall be expressed in units of one support shell. The inspection level shall be level II of MIL-STD-105. Each lot of the end item shall be tested for fu
33、el resistance and porosity. The sample unit shall be one pair of gloves. The lot size shall be expressed in units of one glove each, and the selection made in pairs. The inspection level shall be S-l. Any failure encountered in the porosity or fuel resistance test shall cause rejection of the lot. 2
34、.4.1 Resistance to fuel. The coated fabric shall show no evidence of cracking, softening, flaking, or separation of coating from fabric after immersion in fuel. A 3x3 inches specimen cut from the rough portion of the glove shall be immersed in a solution of 70% isooctane and 30%. toluol for 15 minut
35、es. The specimen shall dry at room temperature for 4 hours. When dry, the specimen shall be folded in half and rolled with a roller of approximately 10 pounds in weight. . The specimen shall be folded again in half, perpendicular to the direction of the first fold, and rolled again in the same manne
36、r. The porosity test apparatus shall be similar to that shown in Figure 3. T
37、he opening of the glove shall be pulled over the shank of the test apparatus and clamped firmly in place by tightening the ring against the base plate. Compressed air shall be fed into the glove in sufficient quantity to fill out the glove and to provide a slight additional pressure. The inflated gl
38、ove shall be immersed in water for 1 minute observation of porosity as indicated by air bubbles. No visible bubbles shall be permiitted within the 1 minute period. One determination shall be made per sample and the results reported as Itpass“ or llfailtf. 3. PACKAGING, PACKING, AND MARKING 3.1 Packa
39、ging, packing and marking. Eight (8) pairs of gloves shall be bundled and securely tied. Forty-eight (48) pairs of gloves shall be packed in a fiberboard shipping container assembled and closed conforming to type CF, class domestic, variety DW, grade 200, size 2A of MIL-B-17757. The. fiberboard for
40、the box liner shall conform to type CF, class domestic of. MIL-B-17757. Marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129. 3.2 Palletization. Gloves packed as specified shall be palletized on a 4-way entry pallet in accordance with load type 1A of MIL-STD-147. Each prepared load shall be bonded in acc
41、ordance with bonding means C, K, and L or O or P, Pallet pattern shall.be in accordance with the appendix of MIL-STD-147. . The pallet shall be 4-way, Type IV; Type V, Class 1, Size 2; or Type VIII, fabricated from wood group I, II, III or IV, Grade A of NN-P-71, or 4-way Style 1, Size A, Type I, Cl
42、ass 1 fabricated from wood groups specified of MIL-P-15011. Interlocking of loads shall be effected by reversing the pattern of each course. If the container is of a size which does not conform to any of the patterns specified in MIL-STD-147, the pallet pattern used shall be approved by the contract
